About the neighbourhood
Civitella Marittima Hilltop village overlooking the plains of the Tuscan Maremma and the hills of Siena. The village, home to 350 people, has Etruscan-Roman origins but most of its buildings date back to the Middle Ages. Paganico Ancient fortified town built by the Sienese to protect the Ombrone valley and the access to the hills of Siena. The medieval walls are perfectly preserved and the apse of the church of St. Michael Archangel houses beautiful frescoes by Biagio di Goro Ghezzi. How to get there
From Florence: Exit the Autostrada at Firenze-Certosa and head towards Siena. At Siena take highway SS223 south in the direction of Grosseto. Approximately 35km after Siena, you will pass over a long bridge followed by a long straight tunnel. Immediately after the tunnel, leave the highway to the right at the exit marked Casal di Pari. Turn left as you come off the exit ramp and follow the signs to Monte Antico and 'Castello di Monte Antico'' where you will see the sign '' Art and Garden'' From Rome/Pisa/Grosseto: Head north on highway SS223 in the direction of Siena.
