Batheaston, Bath, Somerset, England
The Old Sweetshop is one of the most interesting and important houses on the High Street in Batheaston. As its name suggests, it was once a place of business, originally two adjacent houses, the other being a haberdashers.

Many original period features dating from the 16th century still survive, but modern additions such as a recent kitchen, wet room, super fast broadband, LED TV and fantastically comfortable beds, bring all the luxuries of the modern world.

Downstairs, there is a generous size living room with wood burner supplementing the modern gas central heating, sunny conservatory and a separate dining room as well as the modern kitchen/diner. A utility area with AEG and Miele appliances, leads to the downstairs wet room with Mira shower.

Three bedrooms upstairs, the rear ones with views of the surrounding countryside, also have...

About the neighbourhood
Bath is a World Heritage tourist destination, its history dating back to pre Roman times. It is now acknowledged as the second most popular tourist destination in England and the 4th most popular in the UK.

Renowned Georgian architecture rivalling that of Paris, Venice or Rome has been enhanced in recent years with the addition of the Thermae Bath Spa, Britain's only natural thermal spa, featuring the natural mineral waters which first attracted the Romans.
But it's not just about history and architecture. Bath has some of the best shopping in the UK!
Getting around
We are very lucky to have excellent transport links of all kinds, especially the bus stop on the road outsidse the courtyard.

Guests find this the most convenient way to access the City, bypassing much of the trafiic with bus lanes. On average it takes about 10 minutes to the City. Most guests leave their cars in our car park and use the bus for the duration of their stay.

How to get there
Railway: Bath Spa: 3.0 km
The Old Sweet Shop is in the village of Batheaston, one of the small suburbs of the famous historic City of Bath.

Access by road is very simple. We are about half a mile from the main roundabout intersection of the A46 onto the London Road going into Bath.

There is a secure car parking space very close by, whilst the bus stop, with regular services to and from the City, is a few yards up the High Street. Typical journey time by bus or car is 10 minutes.

You can also walk or cycle, the towpath along the canal being a particularly attractive route. A really lovely way to access the City is by one of the regular cruise boats from the landing stage on the river, just 5 or so minutes walk from the property.
