The house can accommodate 5 people with 1 bedroom with double bed, one attic with 2 single beds and 1 couch that easily become bed next to the fire place. Manolis House is not in a mainstream touristic settlement. The vivid hot spots of action (night life, beaches and fancy restaurants) are within 10min range by car, but in Douliana you can have this deep relaxed feeling. As if you were isolated ,or even lost. Soundtrack to that: Singing Birds. Specially on the mornings. Surrounded by cypress trees, hidden in the typical Cretan landscape, Manolis House gives a quality service, with all the features that will guarantee your pleasant stay. All rooms have views of the surrounding green hills. The sitting /dining room seats up to six people and leads into a small but fully equipped kitchen. (fridge, boiler, coffee pot, small oven, 2 hot plates) The house features also unique handmade furniture from local cypress wood, and a careful selection of traditional and modern artworks decorates the pleasant interior. Central heating, fireplace, ceiling fans, A/C included. Spacious wardrobes in the bedroom and safe for your value items. Also a bathroom with shower, a fireplace with a TV set and internet access. The exteriors are including a swimming pool , (shared for both houses, 4.50 x 9.50 m, 1.40 m depth included), barbeque facilities, sun umbrellas of course, -the Cretan sun is intense- and have a range of furniture including patio coffee table & chairs , sunbeds and a children's play area, plus easy parking and complimentary bicycles for easy rides. All guests have access to the gardens with season vegetables and fresh eggs! Ask Mr Manolis in your arrival about more info. We can also provide baby gear including, baby bed ,a high chair, with retractable table at no extra charge. Breakfast is not included, but on your arrival you will enjoy a welcoming snack or breakfast. As a quest at Manolis House you will enjoy the relaxing environment and the quiet tree surroundings, interrupted only by occasional bird chirps. However, the owner and son, (Mr Manolis and Dimitris) are easily assessable by phone as they live near by. You can contact them at any time by using the provided landline. They will be happy to assist and don’t hesitate to ask recommendations about tours, taverns and other destinations. Don’t miss the chance! Enjoy the fresh vegetables from the garden of the house, the daily eggs from the chickens on the backyard, ask Mr Manolis the secrets of his wine, or even ask him to teach you some of his gardening skills. Mr Manolis, owner and an retired carpenter is daily watering the garden and cleaning the pool. He likes to spoil the guests with tomatoes and seasonal vegetables and some of his small production wine that he is really proud of ! Although build on a dead end, Douliana is hardly isolated. The Vamos and Kalives village are within 8 min (by car) range. There is a constant bus connection with Chania-Rethimno-Heraclion. The blue flag beaches of Kalives and Almirida are in 3 km distance For going to Heraclion you will need a taxi to drop you at the national highway. Heraclion-Chania busses are every half an hour. For detailed information visit the KTEL web page Bank, Post Office, Health Center, Municipality buildings and facilities, Police, taverns, and many groceries, super markets, and local craft items can be found at the surrounding villages of Kalives, Vamos, Almyrida and Gavalohori. In Douliana there is a cafenio, (coffee house) ,a mini market, and a tavern that is worth visit Maid service, clean sheet and towels will be provided after three nights. Pets are allowed. Please let us know when you make your reservation. Smoking is prohibited inside the houses. We ask your maximum attention even when smoking outside, because Manolis Houses are literally surrounded by trees, and the risk of fire is extremely high during the hot summer months. Manolis Houses are controlled and certified from the Fire Department, and have all the necessary equipment and installations. On your arrival, please read carefully the provided booklet and familiarize yourself with the emergency plans. Pay attention to the swimming pool rules. Although there is a lifeguard assigned for watching the swimming pool ,from opening till closing time, you are strongly advised to follow his recommendations –or even prohibitions- for entering the water. You can enjoy the fresh vegetables from the garden and the daily eggs from the chickens of the backyard. Please ask Mr Manolis to tell you exactly what to pick and how. About the neighbourhood
The village of Douliana is officially declared by the Greek Cultural Ministry as “traditional settlement of distinct natural beauty” The population during winter is not more than 20 people, while during summer it goes around 40 (locals) All of them are smiling, warm hearted people, without commercialized hospitality and faking attitude towards tourists. The village is on a dead end . Road does not pass through Douliana to somewhere else. This is an important element for your vacation decision. This small village is literally a neighborhood by its own. Explore the alleys and the small forests around the village. Nights in Douliana are unique. Dont be a tourist. Blend with the locals and enjoy some genuine rare moments of a culture that is fading away.
