Additional amenities & feature info
Fully renovated from 2005 onwards and meticulously converted by the owners, the house now offers a traditional old-style Bearnaise environment for an enchanting and comfortable country based holiday retreat. Ideally suited to one or two week breaks between Spring and Autumn.

A great heavy old door leads onto original Ardoise slate flooring, wood burner fireplace, stone walls and open beams – all help create a traditional but very comfortable setting in the lounge and old Bearnais fireside areas. The house has discrete central heating and all the added modern facilities expected for today- WiFi for e-mail and Internet connection, CD Music player, DVD and TV set to France's TNTsat- but has English News (BBC World News etc;) crucially without spoiling the internal or external traditional...

About the neighbourhood
Spend a day white water rafting on the Gave d'Oloron or just wander down the lane in mid-afternoon to watch other rafters skimming past . The unspoilt ancient towns of Sauveterre, Naverrenx, Salies-de-Bearn and Orthez., are worht exploring. Not forgetting the typical Basque town of St Palais (15 minsutes away) -all the local towns have their own weekly markets and fetes during the summer months.

The Chateau de Laas (open to the public) in the beautiful village of Laas is just 10 mins from the house or cycle there and have a delicious lunch in the auberge. There are numerous cycling routes away from the traffic along old farm roads, tennis courts ( one in the village and more in Sauveterre) and Spa Baths, horse riding and golf all nearby.
