It is an area of wide open spaces with small single track roads connecting villages. Watten is located between the bustling towns of Thurso and Wick and is well-known for its large loch, which is teeming with brown trout. During the fishing season, permits can be obtained locally. The small village has a busy local pub/restaurant called 'The Brown Trout,' as well as a Post Office. The area is ideal for walkers, cyclists, and wildlife watchers, and it is close to Wick for shopping and dining.
