Forge Cottage was built in 2013 on the site of the old village bakery. The village forge was on the site in 1880. North Elmham is a quiet, very well equipped village. There is a new, state of the art playground on the village green a two minute walk across the road to the cottage. The pub is a 10 minute walk to the top of the road. It does an excellent carvery on a Sunday and different specialty nights. The Teapost is a superb coffee shop which also serves lunches. The staff are terrific and food delicious, especially the cakes! There is a Monday market between 9am -1pm selling fresh fish, vegetables and flowers/plants. There is a small local supermarket. There are several local walks up past the 13th century cathedral ruins and the Millennium Woods which are wheelchair and buggy friendly....Forge Cottage was built in 2013 on the site of the old village bakery. About the neighbourhood
North Elmham is a lovely village. The streets can be a bit narrow and as there are many children in the village care needs to be taken driving, as they tend to walk in the road. There are local walks to enjoy and to drive to most places around Norfolk takes approximately 40 minutes. The nearest town is Dereham, which has supermarkets, cinema, leisure centre, bowling and a soft play area for children. Norfolk is an excellent place to visit for those interested in birding.
How to get there
If coming from the south join the A11 and follow through till the A1075, following signs to Dereham. Take the B1146 into Quebec Road and follow through to North Elmham. Proceed down Holt Road and turn right into Eastgate Street. After 0.3km Forge Cottage is on the right hand side. The village green is marked by wooden posts on the left hand side. Forge Cottage is opposite the entrance to the green. Satellite Navigation works very well to the property. Route planners can be found on the RAC site.
