Condo/Apartment
The Riverside gite is on the banks of the river Orbieu with views to Lagrasse's 12th century stone bridge and Abbey. This luxury 2 bedroom apartment has been incorporated into what were the medieval ramparts of the village and is part of a remarkable building of grand proportions which houses 3 beautiful apartments. Its prime position on the village gives the gite a wonderful feeling of being in the countryside, with the sound of the river to lull you to sleep at night whilst the front of the house opens into the heart of the village and 13th century covered market. Lagrasse is listed as one of the Plus Beaux Villages of France and also for its history and artists. You are only a minute's walk from restaurants, the bakery, local 'artisans' with their galleries and the village shops. ...The Riverside gite is on the banks of the river Orbieu with views to Lagrasse's 12th century stone bridge and Abbey. If you want more activity there are walks from the doorstep, mountain biking, horse riding, fishing, tennis, the abbey to visit and river swimming all in the village. Swim in the river at bottom of garden. More

We stayed at the Riverside Gîte for two wonderful weeks. The rooms are incredible - large, airy, and tastefully decorated. The bed was big and comfy and the apartment stayed cool night and day, inspite of the warm weather. We loved cooking with the delicious...More

About the neighbourhood
Lagrasse is known as one of the prettiest villages in France which is perhaps why it has attracted many artists who open their doors to visitors. The village is surrounded by vineyards and the Corbieres hills and yet is only 40 minutes from Mediterranean beaches and Carcassonne. There are 4 excellent restaurants, a bakery with delicious cakes, a café/bar, shops, a busy delicatessen with ready prepared meals (the owners Jacques and Dolorès used to run a restaurant), tabac, post office, cash dispenser, doctors, chemist, garage and many 'caves' selling their own excellent wine. The 13th century market place (on our doorstep) has a market on Saturday mornings selling organic local produce. There are two shops and several wine producers and if all you want to do is relax there is no need for a...
