New luxury mattresses, kitchen appliances, patio furniture and updated decor. Accessed via quiet country lanes, yet only a short drive from the historic towns of Pembroke and Tenby, West Barn is a luxury and spacious yet comfortable split-level barn conversion, nestling in a sheltered hamlet among the rolling hills of the Pembrokeshire National Park just a short walk from the coastal path, dramatic cliffs and sandy beaches of Freshwater East. Entering the barn from the ample parking area, you will be greeted by a large, stylish fully-equipped kitchen with integrated appliances, heated slate floor and high beamed ceiling. A farmhouse table is perfect for family meals. Moving through to the open plan lounge, passing a downstairs toilet and double bedroom on the way, both ideal for the mobility impaired, the main seating area is drenched in natural light from large French doors and traditional windows as well as two velux windows. With comfortable sofas, antique furniture and warm oak floors, guests can relax with a selection of books and DVDs, watch the large screen TV with Satellite and Freeview, or just gaze out at the garden watching farm animals grazing in the fields beyond. The sense of space and light continues as you access the next level (six steps) on which will be found the cool, luxury bathroom with wood panelling, designer bath, heated slate floor and wet room with invigorating power shower which positively encourages indulgence and relaxation. Beyond, is the peaceful second bedroom whose considerable size amply accommodates twin four-poster beds. This level is completed by a utility room with central heating boiler and washing machine. Up a few more steps reveals the third bedroom containing a king and single bed making it ideal as a family room. All three bedrooms are tastefully colour-coordinated and have warm, solid oak floors and dressing tables. Two of the bedrooms have sizeable wardrobes and TVs. Outside A walk outside reveals a tranquil and sheltered patio leading to large lawn with several features provided by our friendly and hospitable neighbours for the more energetic: trampoline, swings, even a pirate ship! (Please note that the zip wires mentioned in some reviews are no longer available) Beyond the garden is a woodland walk with picnic area and, eventually, the sea, which can be reached in 10-15 minutes via the fields or country lanes. The whole hamlet comprises just half a dozen houses and the sound of a passing car is sufficiently rare as to make the whole area completely safe for children and adults to play and explore. The large, open garden is overlooked by a completely unique tower offering commanding views across the hamlet and fields beyond. Whether it's to read, eat, keep an eye on the children playing or enjoy an evening drink, this unusual feature makes a stay at West Barn truly unforgettable. Please contact me before you book if you wish to bring a dog. One well-behaved dog is welcome, subject to certain conditions and an additional charge. Parts of the garden are shared and not fully enclosed, however there is no passing traffic. Failure to disclose pets or to comply with the conditions may forfeit your damages deposit. More

Thank you for your review. The garden is part owned by me (not just the patio but a large area) and includes exclusive use of a unique tower for relaxing on warm summer evenings. Yes it is left unfenced and most guests comment that they...More

About the neighbourhood
The cottage is in a small, secluded hamlet containing about six houses and cottages, surrounded by farmland. The clifftop, the coastal path and huge sandy beach of Freshwater East are just a short walk away, making this an ideal base for you to visit the rest of the Pembrokeshire Coast where you can head to quiet, sandy coves or the bustling seaside towns of Tenby, Saundersfoot and more - all just twenty minutes away. Alternatively, this part of Pembrokeshire offers theme parks, wildlife parks, and more castles than you could possibly visit in a week! All these attractions are within twenty minutes of the cottage.
Getting around
The roads in Pembrokeshire and excellent and uncongested. Even Tenby, by far the busiest and most popular destination in the county, offers enough parking even in the height of Summer. As an alternative, why not park in nearby Lamphey for free and take the bus or train? There are regular services to Pembroke, Tenby and beyond. Tenby station is just five minutes from the town centre and seven minutes from the beach.
