About the neighbourhood
El Pinar de San Gines (known as The Pines) nestles behind lovely mature villas in the exclusive San Gines district of La Azohia on the lower slopes of the mountain, on what was pine forest. It is in an incredibly quiet and peaceful spot yet just a five minute walk through lovely residential avenues to the best part of the seafront and a couple of good restaurants. It was the first (and is likely to be the only) development of its kind to be allowed here and is built in traditional Andalucian 'pueblo' style in order to be in keeping with the surroundings – with winding paths, lovely private gardens and communal swimming pools. Getting around
If you wish to explore this diverse area of Spain then a hiring a car is always useful but it is by no means necessary. Clearly this is a personal choice. For summer guests wishing to spend most of the time on the beach, on the BBQ terrace or in the local bars and restaurants within walking distance, there is a limited bus service to Mazarron and Cartagena from where connections are available to the wider region. Timetables will be supplied. There are also local taxi firms. La Azohia also provides magnificent walking opportunities and a chance to get fit!
