This cottage is located on the grounds of the owners home and is directly on the shores of Lough Corrib yet only 1 mile from Clonbur with pubs, shops, hotel, restaurants and a gift shop and just 3.5 miles from the picturesque village of Cong where the classic Quiet Man Film was made and is home of the historic Ashford Castle. We have just come back from a week in clonbur, we had a great time and took our 2 dogs. Lovely clean place and very friendly owner. Had a daily visit from jess their dog, who was very friendly. Great value, will visit again.

WIFI is available at EUR15 per week.~ Lake boat hire is available and it is charged at EUR50.00 per day, EUR45 per day for more than 1 day.~ The onsite lakeshore and woodland trail are a favourite amongst guests and a must do during your stay! Adjoining the owner's home is this cosy 2 Bedroom cottage. The cottage is tastefully decorated, very comfortable and bright, and maintained to a high standard with wooden floors and tiles throughout, two en suite bedrooms and large hallway down stairs and an open plan kitchen, dining and living area upstairs. This cottage faces the lake, has its own private entrance, car parking and shared use of the extensive landscaped gardens which run down to the lake. Located just 1 .5 miles from the lovely village of Clonbur with pubs, shops, hotel, restaurants and a gift shop and just 3.5 miles from the picturesque village of Cong where the classic Quiet Man Film was made and is home of the historic Ashford Castle. Galway City is with 1 hours drive. Beach 35 miles. Lake shore could not be nearer.Guests wishing to fish or do some pleasure boating on the lake can avail of the Private Pier and Boathouse at Dooroy Lodge. Boats and Engines are available for hire together with life jackets. Dooroy Nature Trail' can be enjoyed by our guests, the looped trail takes you through the woodlands and out to a point at the lakeshore with spectacular views. It can be either a romantic stroll or a kid's adventure. Locally there is an abundance of walking trails, the stunning 'Sean Bothar' (Gaelic for the Old Road) is a 10 Km walk from Clonbur to Cornamona and can be accessed nearby, the entire route overlooks Lough Corrib. For the more energetic Hill climbing is a must at 'Mount Gable', a worthwhile climb to panoramic views of both the lakes and mountains.Fishing on Lough Corrib and Lough Mask, Boat trip, Horse riding and Falconry at Ashford Castle, Golf, Cycling and Caving. This is an ideal base for touring the delights of Cong, Connemara and Connemara National Park, Leenane and Killary Fjord, Kylemore Abbey and Gardens, Clifden and the Sky road, Westport and Galway city, all of which are within an hours drive. Locally both Cong and Clonbur offer a variety of pubs and dining experiences from cafes to bar food and restaurants. Live traditional music sessions are held most weekends and additional nights in the summer season. FAMOUS FOR FISHINGThe fishing in the area is second to none in the world. The season extends from February to end of September (the dapping season from mid May to mid June), using mayfly and from mid July to mid September. We are delighted to offer guidance and local gillies (fishing guides) can be arranged. A salmon license may be purchased in the local villages.Connemara National ParkConnemara National Park covers some 2,957 hectares of scenic mountains, expanses of bogs, heaths, grasslands and woodlands. Some of the Park's mountains are part of the famous Twelve Bens. Entry to the park is free and there is a newly constructed playground for children. There is a very nice visitor centre with refreshments available. There are some majestic walks to suit all levels. There is a path which leads all the way to the top of the 'Diamond'.Kylemore Abbey and Victorian Walled GardensKylemore Abbey is the oldest of the Irish Benedictine Abbeys. The Community of nuns, who have resided here since 1920, have a long history stretching back almost three hundred and forty years. The Visitor Centre welcomes visitors on a daily basis. Always golden sand even in high tide it's set on a gentle inlet which makes the water very calm. Some fantastic snorkeling of rocks and kelp. Approx 50 minutes drive.Lettergesh beach. Great waves for body boarding with an offshore breeze. Dogs Bay at Roundstone. Beautiful cove with some lovely rocks for snorkeling around.
