The Engine Room is a beautiful two person holiday hideaway set in the historic village of Milton Abbas in Dorset.The Engine Room once housed the fire engines for the village fire house and has been beautifully converted into a luxury holiday home for two. Features include beautiful hand crafted oak shelves and kitchen units, antique stained glass windows, a walk in shower and a private courtyard with table and chairs.The village of Milton Abbas is set in a valley lined with 'chocolate box' style thatched cottages and surrounded by woodland. A lovely clean fully equipped and modern self contained hideaway in the middle of Milton Abbas. Excellent shower facility, comfortable and quiet accomodation.

What a lovely place to stay - so many lovely walks and Milton Abbey is beautiful. The owner Sharron was really helpful and a wealth of knowledge on the local area. Would thoroughly recommend.

We booked through Hideaways and it definately was a hideaway! It was just the right size for two, a place to sleep and eat, a base for exporing the beautiful Dorset countryside. We really appreciated the milk,bread and butter provided. The bed was very comfortable....More

Sharon has thought of everything from the well equipped kitchen and bathroom to lovely welcome touches like milk, bread, coffee and tea. Beautifully appointed - bijou. The quiet was disturbed only by a regular motorbike. It was warm, clean and comfortable. Would come again to...More

we had a lovely stay here the bed was comfortable, the couches too, , lacks space to put clothes and food if your planning to do own cooking, maybe one of the cupboard in the room could be cleared of all the cups and saucers,...More

About the neighbourhood
The Engine Room is situated in Milton Abbas, a beautiful historic village in Dorset, England. The village is famous for its 36 'chocolate box' style whitewashed thatch and cob cottages and for being the first planned settlement in England. The village is set in a valley which is surrounded by woodland either side so perfect for country walks. At the bottom of the village is a pathway known as 'Monk's Path' which leads to Milton Abbey a stunning abbey which is open to visitors. The village was commissioned in 1780 by Joseph Damer and originally had a bakers, blacksmith, brewery and a fire house, of which The Engine Room is part of and was where the fire engines were originally kept.
