A pretty and spacious 1930s villa La Cigale retains many traditional features. Set in a large secure garden it has a sunny south-west facing aspect and is a wonderfully light and airy villa. Secure parking for +2 cars. Beach towels, tennis & badminton rackets, toy box, footballs, buckets & spades, inflatable dingy, snorkeling masks, a well stocked bookcase and selection of DVDs & board games.
When refurbishing Villa la Cigale we retained as many of the original features as possible particularly the doors, windows, fittings and shutters. Some internal doors no longer fit squarely into their frames and the window shutters require a little more manual effort to open & close than modern electric shutters would, but we hope that, like us, you find this only adds to the character of the Villa !
Off the garden path, the front steps lead up to a patio (9 m2) and the front door which opens onto a corridor that runs the length of the Villa's raised ground floor.
In a clockwise direction from the front door, the Villa is laid out as follow:
The first room to the left is a light airy living room (16 m2). Traditional French doors open onto the patio which is a great space to relax at any time.
The next room on the left is the kitchen (10 m2) fully fitted with dishwasher, gas/electric hob, electric cooker, fridge/freezer, microwave, toaster, Nespresso machine, and all the cooking utensils / crockery you would expect in a well-equipped holiday home.
Next to the kitchen is a staircase leading down the lower ground floor and a shower room. There is also direct access into the garage where the washing machine is located.
The last room on the left is a children’s bedroom with two sets of bunk beds (sleeps 4) and plenty of drawer space (no wardrobe). The brightly coloured room overlooks the rear garden terrace and is quiet and cool in the evenings. Ideal for getting children to sleep ! There is an en-suite shower room with washbasin and bidet and adjoining a W.C. A baby changing table, bath and a toddler safety bed rail are all available.
Moving to the rear right hand side of the Villa is one of two double bedrooms. The cool “blue” bedroom (16 m2) overlooks the garden to the south-east and enjoys the morning & early afternoon sun. It features a double bed, generous hanging/drawer space and is en-suite (6.3 m2) with shower W.C. bidet & washbasin.
The dining room is next (14 m2) with seating for ten guests. It is south facing and opens onto a covered patio (6 m2) which is another great spot to relax and enjoy an early morning coffee. A baby/high chair and a toddler chair are available on request.
The second double bedroom (16 m2) – the “rose” room – overlooks the garden to the south-west, and is again a bright and airy room. It features a double bed, generous hanging/drawer space and is en suite with bath, bidet & basin. No WC.
The Villa was built many years ago at a time when we relied far less on electrical equipment. If a combination of high amp equipment are running simultaneous ( e.g. the oven, microwave, toaster and the dishwasher ) it is highly likely that the kitchen fuse will “trip”. Ditto a bedroom fuse may trip if a hair dryer / straightening tongs are used when the iron is on in the same room. To reset a fuse turn off one or more of the offending pieces of equipment and simply push the fuse back into the ‘up’ position. (The main fuse box is located in the garage).
