The Gardener's Cottage
1 of 17The Gardener's Cottage
Holiday Rental House -
2 Bedrooms , 1 Bathroom , Sleeps 4
Saunderton, Princes Risborough, Buckinghamshire, England
The Gardener's Cottage is a beautiful, newly renovated, cottage with its own private garden. It has 17th Century charm with the convenience & comfort of modern fittings. It is an ideal location for couples, families, walkers, cyclists or business colleagues.

We are located on the edge of the Chilterns, in a picturesque rural setting yet with easy access to London (train 35mins from Marylebone), the M40 (15 minutes) and Heathrow / Luton airport.

The cottage sits in 18 acres of private grounds, providing a wonderful escape from daily bustle. The Ridgeway and the Chiltern Way both pass through our fields and hence you are immediately linked into the network of national footpaths - either up to the beech woods or across the Aylesbury Vale. Alternatively, you have a private garden in which you can sit and relax.

Interaction with guests
We live in the main house. We are available on site or via phone. The Gardener's Cottage is entirely separate - so apart from when you arrive, or when you need us, you won't see us. There is a comprehensive guide to the local area - but sometimes it is easier to ask a specific question. We are always happy to share our knowledge with you. We love to cook, but appreciate that not everyone else has the same passion. If you would like breakfast, a picnic hamper - or other provisions - please let us know in advance and we can provide a variety of different options, using locally sourced ingredients, wherever possible.

About the neighbourhood
We are located two miles from the market town of Princes Risborough, in a rural setting. The Chiltern's contain fabulous walking. Both The Ridgeway and The Chiltern Way pass through our fields, so you are ideally situated to enjoy the vast network of Public Footpaths. The Phoenix Trail, a traffic free cycle route, can be accessed less than two miles away and provides a family friendly cycle ride to Thame. For those who appreciate fine dining, we are extremely close to both The Charles Napier and The Mash Inn. Further afield are Le Manoir aux Quat'Saison and The Crazy Bear. There are also many slightly lower key pubs with a more every day offering - many of which can form part of a circular walk direct from the cottage.
Getting around
Princes Risborough station is less than 2 miles away. There is a bus less than a mile away that will take you to Risborough or High Wycombe. Hence, if you come here as a commuter to and from London, or to walk or cycle, you can easily manage without a car. Oxford, London, Bicester Village and Birmingham are all easily reached via train. However, for those staying longer, who want to explore further afield, you would be better to have a car.
How to get there
For those coming by car, there is plenty of parking on site. We are 40 minutes from West London, half an hour from Oxford and 10 - 15 minutes from the M40 (depending whether you are coming from the North or South). For those coming by train, the closest station is Princes Risborough. If you need transport - if we are around, we may be able to collect you for a small charge. It might be easier than a taxi. It is less than a 10 minute cycle if you are coming with a bike by train or there are taxis at the station (5 minute drive). Whilst we recommend having a car, it is quite possible to stay here without one. For those coming by air, we are less than 40 minutes from both Heathrow and Luton.
