Gesail, located in the southern corner of the Snowdonia National Park, is the perfect place to relax and unwind. The traditional farmhouse sleeps 6 and the contemporary barn sleeps 4. With 690 acres of private land to explore including woodland, streams and meadows, as well as your very own mountain, Gesail is perfect for families and friends wanting a secret hideaway in this beautiful corner of Wales. It is the perfect spot for children who can make dens or play games and cook sausages by the fire. If you feel the need to venture further afield there are numerous activities nearby including hill walking, mountain biking, fishing, kayaking, horse riding and canyoning. The gorgeous beaches of west Wales are just half an hour away. Dolgellau estuary, Lake Vyrnwy, Portmeirion, Harlech castle and the Centre for Alternative Technology are also all within an easy drive. The barn was designed by the owner architect and is modern, bright and an enjoyable social space. The main bedroom has a comfortable four-poster bed. The large bathroom is just next door. The kitchen and sitting room consist of a large open plan area and two double sofa beds. The dining table seats 10 and the kitchen is well equipped with a dishwasher, hob, oven and plenty of pots, pans, cutlery and cooking accessories. The barn has Wi-Fi but it is not very fast and we encourage our guests to think of their time at Gesail as a digital detox. The farmhouse, which is next door to the barn, is an authentic lovingly preserved older property with 3 bedrooms on the first floor; one with a four poster double bed, another quirky double and also a twin bedded room (which you need to walk through to get to the second double room). There is a good sized shared bathroom on this floor. The sitting room has a large log fire and there is a simple dining room and galley kitchen which should have most things you need. But be warned, it doesn’t have a dishwasher. Most guests have their main meals all together in the barn which does have one. The cottage has a vintage, anti-modern feel, but with central heating, a washing machine and freezer. It is simple and welcoming with whitewashed old stone walls and beautiful exposed beams. There are books, CDs, board games, maps and all you need to keep you entertained for when you want to relax indoors. By popular request there is no TV, so take laptops with movies installed when visiting. Please note that you need to cross a small ford to get to Gesail which might not be suitable for sports cars. About the neighbourhood
We have many wonderful activities on our doorstep including over 200 climbs on our own crag, plus hiking, fishing, kayaking, horse riding and canyoning. Local outdoor pursuit companies can take groups on taster days, which include kayaking, climbing and mountain biking. The UK’s first and largest dedicated mountain bike trail centre, Coed y Brenin, is only a fifteen minute drive away. Forest school workshops are available. You can find sample worksheets in one of the outbuildings, or book a guided session for a wider selection of activities.
