About the neighbourhood
A 5 minute walk through the woodland takes you into the village, where there are several local pubs, a cafe, woollen mill, post office, river. There are several local walks from the log cabin., and many hill walks a short car drive away. The nearest beaches are at Fairbourne and Barmouth. The Dyffi Osprey project is on the way to Fairbourne. Coed y Brenin is about 20 minutes away, with a visitor centre, a number of graded mountain bike trails, as well as a wealth of waymarked walks. The Mach Loop Bwlch car park is at the top of the pass, on the way to Dolgellau, where avid military jet spotters wait to see the jets, helicopters and transport planes pass at close quarters. They often pass at the rear of the log cabins.
Getting around
A car is the best way to get around. A bus does stop in the village, though. Nearest mainline train station is Machynlleth.
