Located in a sleepy residential village just a few steps away from the trout-filled River Dove and a thunderous weir, Ammonite is a popular self-catering cottage with many famous local attractions only a short drive, walk or cycle ride away.

With one double and one twin bedroom plus a bathroom on the first floor, the cottage is ideal for families or one or two couples. The ground floor offers spacious accommodation with a cosy and comfortable sitting room leading open-plan to a kitchen/dining room illuminated by natural sunlight. Thanks for your review. Since your stay in August we have completed a much needed soft refurbishment of Ammonite Cottage. Carpets have been replaced with new. Paintwork has been updated and bathroom updated. You may have found the cottage cramped with furniture but many guests...More

Had a lovely week at the cottage in early June made extra special by the sunny weather. Cottage was well located in a peaceful area, just a short walk into town that had plenty of interesting shops and places to eat, plus Co Op supermarket....More

Thanks for your feedback and review. We are just waiting for a gap in bookings after a very busy few months to carry out a repaint and lay a new carpet in the lounge. This will be completed in the next few weeks.

Ammonite Cottage is located only a few minutes walk from the traditional market town of Kirkbymoorside. With a population of some 3,000 people, the town has a good range of shops and amenities including five pubs, a choice of restaurants, cafés, fish and chip shops, bakeries, a newsagent, pharmacy, supermarkets, a squash club, tennis courts, children’s park, sports field and golf course. To the east is Pickering, which offers a swimming pool, cinema, trout fishery, a castle, antique shops and is the home of the famous North Yorkshire Moors Railway – a ‘must-do’ journey through breathtaking Yorkshire scenery on a steam train.

Easily accessible by car, Ammonite Cottage is located on the north side of the A170 Thirsk to Scarborough road, just 1 km east of the picturesque market town of Kirkbymoorside, in the village of Kirkby Mills/Keldholme.

Heading northbound on the A1(M) or M1, leave the motorway at Junction 45 on to the A64 heading towards York. Several very scenic routes lead from the A64 to Kirkbymoorside via either Castle Howard (recommended), Malton or Pickering (each take approx. 1 hour from the M1).

Heading southbound on the A1 from northeast England, take the A168 to Thirsk, then the A170 towards Scarborough via the market hamlet of Helmsley (approx. 45 minutes).
