Kirkbymoorside, North Yorkshire, England
Full of character, charm and original period features, Ammonite Cottage offers a peaceful and homely atmosphere on the southern edge of the North Yorkshire Moors National Park. Located in a sleepy residential village just a few steps away from the trout-filled River Dove and a thunderous weir, Ammonite is a popular self-catering cottage with many famous local attractions only a short drive, walk or cycle ride away.

With one double and one twin bedroom plus a bathroom on the first floor, the cottage is ideal for families or one or two couples. The ground floor offers spacious accommodation with a cosy and comfortable sitting room leading open-plan to a kitchen/dining room illuminated by natural sunlight. Reviewed 13 November 2016 for a stay in August 2016

The best about our two week holiday was the actual location, with many walks and bike rides straight from the cottage. Parking isn't ideal due to issues regarding the neighbour's drive. The cottage itself is adequate. The kitchen is nice and current, but the bathroom needs updating. There is a lot of unnecessary furniture in the living room, making it...

Management response:

Thanks for your review. Since your stay in August we have completed a much needed soft refurbishment of Ammonite Cottage. Carpets have been replaced with new. Paintwork has been updated and bathroom updated. You may have found the cottage cramped with furniture but many guests enjoy the antique dining table and chairs in the living room. There is not much...

Reviewed 21 June 2016 for a stay in June 2016

Had a lovely week at the cottage in early June made extra special by the sunny weather. Cottage was well located in a peaceful area, just a short walk into town that had plenty of interesting shops and places to eat, plus Co Op supermarket. Cottage itself needs a bit of TLC to get it back to a really good...

Management response:

Thanks for your feedback and review. We are just waiting for a gap in bookings after a very busy few months to carry out a repaint and lay a new carpet in the lounge. This will be completed in the next few weeks.

Reviewed 30 April 2016 for a stay in March 2016

Our second stay at Ammonite Cottage and delighted again. Nick and Dorothy went out of their way to make our stay as memorable as possible. Welcome bottle of red and basket of logs on arrival, home-made cake on our second day! Wi-Fi was fast and the log fire the best we've experienced. We've already booked our week for next year!

Management response:

Thanks for your great review Alan - we are delighted you enjoyed your stay again and choose to come back to Ammonite for your holidays. Hope to see you again soon.
