Gateway to the moors - Called Chirchebi in the Doomsday book (1086), it has been a trading hub since 1254 when it received the Charter for its market which is still held every Wednesday. Today it offers a wide variety of shops and services for its inhabitants and the surrounding villages such as Pubs/Hotels, Cafes, Supermarkets, Deli's, Bakeries, Butchers, Takeaway's, Gift shops, Antique shops, Art Gallery, Art Studio.
Explore Castle Howard, Nunnington Hall, Rievaulx Abbey, Duncombe Park, Moors Steam Railway and Dalby forest for a adventure park. Hiking, cycling, golfing, horse riding all on our doorstep. Whitby, Scarborough and Robin Hoods Bay beach destinations, and the city of York all a 45 minute drive.
Car would be the best way to explore the area, although the Moorsbus operates form Kirkbymoorside with the bus stop and timetable located in Main Street. It goes to most of the villages, Market towns and the City of York.
