About the neighbourhood
The nearby very picturesque town of Brantome has been described as the Venice of the North, the river circles the old town and the abbey overlooks the river, Canoeing is available and you can either circle the town or take longer trips to neighbouring villages from which you can be collected.
There are many beautiful villages nearby such as St Jean de Cole and Bourdeilles. The national park offers many opportunities for cycling and walking to enjoy the natural history of the area, particularly its bird and butterfly life. A Large Go-carting circuit is nearby.
How to get there
The nearest airport is Bergerac about 90km (55miles) away. Flights are available to Bergerac from UK - Flybe from Gatwick, Southampton,Birmingham, Bristol and Exeter. Ryanair from Stanstead, Nottingham and Liverpool.
Car hire is available from several companies including Avis, Hertz Budget and Europcar. We take the Brittanny ferry from Portsmouth to Caan and then the drive (nearly all dual carraigeway) is about 530km (320miles) due south. Otherwise take the ferry or Eurotunnel from Dover, for a cheaper ferry but additional French driving.
