Lots of charm, perfect location but not for those who have any problems with stairs! Owner gave very detailed instructions concerning the house and the surrounding area so we had no questions or problems. Lovely!

About the neighbourhood
The village of Beynac consists of a cluster of golden-stone houses beneath a dramatic 500 foot cliff. Perched at the top stands the 12th century Chateau Beynac, rising from the sheer cliff face along the most historic and scenic section of the Dordogne River. With its formidable Chateau, rows of charming houses, and the gentle river below, the setting is simply captivating. La Petite Masion makes for an ideal home base for visiting all the picturesque villages in the Perigord Noir, including Domme, La Roque-Gageac, Castelnaud, Monpazier, and Sarlat, the most historically preserved medieval city in all of France. Beynac castle is renowned for being one of the best preserved medieval castles in France. It was painstakingly restored last century using only the tools of the medieval craftsman. From the castle terrace, the chateaux of Marqueyssac, Fayrac, and Castelnaud are all within view across the verdant tapestry of this beautiful valley.
Getting around
A rental car is recommended for getting to see the most of this beautiful region but we have had several guests who were content with staying in the village for the duration of their stay. In this case we can recommend a tour operator who can organize excursions tailored to your interests if desired. He also does airport and train station transfers. Just let us know in advance what you need.
How to get there
Most likely you will fly to Paris, Bordeaux, Toulouse, or Bergerac from your departure point. You can fly Ryan Air direct from Stansted airport in London to Bergerac. If you choose to begin your trip with a visit to Paris, you should take the train to Brive-la Gaillarde. From there you can rent a car at the Avis agency which is very close to the train station. From Bordeaux (2 hrs): Take the A89 to Perigeux, then follow signs to Sarlat, then Beynac From Toulouse (2 hrs): Take the A20 north and exit at Souillac, then follow signs to Sarlat, then Beynac From Bergerac (1 hr): Take the D-roads east towards Lalinde, St. Cyprien, then Beynac From Paris by car (5 hrs): Take the A20 south, exit at Souillac, follow signs for Sarlat, then Beynac
Airport: Bergerac: 60.0 km
Railway: Sarlat: 10.0 km
