The area offers extensive outdoor pursuits: golfing, water skiing, sailing, fishing, hill walking, cycling, bird watching. Centrally located for the 7 stanes mountain bike centres and on a national cycling byway, it is ideal for cyclists as well as walkers, fishing enthusiasts and families. The Galloway activity centre and Loch Ken water ski club are only a few miles away on the banks of Loch Ken.

The area is rich in wild life. The loch attracts Swans, Grey Lag Geese, Grey Herons and is home to two Great Crested Grebes. We also have a local Barn Owl that frequents our garden. There are Eagles, Buzzards, Red Squirrels, Red Dear and even Stoats. The 'Galloway Red Kite Trail' around Lock Ken is only a few miles away

Railway: Ayr: 53.0 km
Ferry: Troon: 67.0 km
From Castle Douglas proceed north for about 16 miles on the A713 following the signs for Ayr until you reach St Johns Town of Dalry. At the monument turn right onto the A702 following signs for Moniave. Follow the road for about 3 miles through the hamlet of Bogue. About one mile after Bogue turn left onto the unclassified road signposted Milnmark farm and Lochinvar. Follow this road for approx 1 mile past Duchrie Farm house and Lochinvar Cottage is on your right next to the Loch.

From Glasgow take the M8/ M77/ A77 towards Ayr proceed south on the A713 following the signs for Castle Douglas until you reach St Johns Town of Dalry and then follow the directions above
