Holiday Rental House
North is a simple and elegant home carefully crafted with wood stone and glass. Nestled amidst the mighty deodars and the gushing Beas river slowly making its way up the valley, this home is for anyone who longs to dance with magic, far far away from city life. The estate is also a home to artists, thinkers and like minded people who have become a family. We live as a community in an eco conscious way and we would be delighted if you could also treat our home with the same love and attention. We live as a community in an eco conscious way and we would be delighted if you could also treat our home with the same love and attention. The space THE ESTATE North is a land where anything is possible, life is easy and fun. We built a space where we could be less preoccupied by our professions and more reliant on each other as we practice new skills together. Its our home, where we experience splendid nature, make architecture, art, music and food; practice community building; learn new skills; and maintain a place where we can enjoy each others company. ---- The estate has a three floored traditional Himachali house, a parking area, a co - working café space, a camping site and the mountain above to explore. We have unfinished projects pretty much all the time and the gardens and orchards are wild. There's a shared cosy kitchen/ living area overlooking the valley right beside your bedroom on the top floor. The second floor is a research and recreation room where we huddle up for movies during the rains. The weather can either be pleasant, cold or freezing so there is no need for an AC or fan. The stone walled open café space is perfect for a calm afternoon reading a book or a long conversation about the sunset right in front of you. There are various instruments kept all around for you to let loose and jam with us into the night. Sourcing food locally is something we pride ourselves on. The food for the cafe is largely bought from the surrounding valley and our menu is based on sustainability and seasonality. The food we serve is based on the fresh ingredients and is aimed at being light and healthy without compromising on flavour. We try to give a flavour of the food of Himachal and its distinct dishes. For breakfast we regularly serve Siddu, a type of steamed dumpling made from wheat flour and stuffed with daal or walnut paste. The valley is famous for its trout farms and although our food is largely vegetarian, we occasionally serve this local speciality. The food served is driven by our desire for sustainability, simplicity and well-being. Our meals also aim to bring out the community aspect of north, what we offer changes daily and is best eaten together. There are multiple hidden spots all over the mountain estate that have been specifically created for a quick escape into the woods. 'We believe in wellness of the community we live in, wellness of the forest we are surrounded by and wellness of our body, to explore the universe and the energy within.' ARTIST RESIDENCY We are also an Artist Residency which hopes to establish itself as a place for artistic and community engagements. We want to help motivate and encourage the paradigm shift of humanity, which will lead to a more conscious, connected and expressive future for us all. We have an official process for residency with dues and a few rules. Our niche in Himachal is known for its weird, wild and wonderful global community of art and music lovers, spiritual seekers, yoga detoxers, permaculture nerds, lazy nature gazers, and the creative flip outs. This home is for everybody. CURATED EXPERIENCES & WORKSHOPS We also curate and build experiences designed to not just help the community but also mould your perspective on sustainable living. Taking from the simple Himachali life here, we can spend the day at an apple farm, collecting the harvest for an afternoon and learn about our soil from the farmer. We can spend a day getting our hands messy in the fresh neighbourhood ingredients to cook a local dish and make a meal for ourselves. We have kept a few homes for local Himalayan bees which are now an endangered species. Bee keeping is a delightful adventure and you can watch them being fed as they buzz around in excitement. Another soothing activity we love is wood carving. A wood carver from a nearby village joins us on some mornings as we sit in the cold sun pouring over a slice of wood. It is an immersive and healing experience with a souvenir to take back home. Weaving is a big part of the culture here and we organise workshops with the village weavers to imbue the tools of the traditional hand loom. Also, on most cold nights, our co working space turns into a cosy music infused folk corner. We spend the night dancing the Himachali Naati in a circle. Its a complete different energy holding hands and moving in sync to the mountain rhythm.More

About the neighbourhood
North’s place is located in Naggar, Himachal Pradesh, India. We live in the centre of Naggar, walking distance from the nearest ATM, the local market, a pizzeria and cosy coffee shops littered along the mountain side. Even being bang amidst the heart of this village, it is very easy to find complete isolation and quiet if you keep walking up our property. We love the balance of the boisterous village and its ongoings along with the meditative calm the woods above give. The market for any supplies, the nearest ATM machine and the clinic all are a 10 minute walk away.
Getting around
There are multiple villages hidden amongst the mountains which you can trek up to. You can either go up the mountain or down into the valley right to the thundering Beas river. There are also ancient temples around with magnificent views and a different energy enveloping the space. Krishna Temple, a small trek up, is the perfect meditation spot. There is Roerich Art gallery which is the restored estate of a Russian painter and political activist, Nicolas Roerich. He travelled through the Himalayas, finally settling in Naggar and spent the last years of his life painting the mountains. You can view his brilliant work at the estate. Naggar is also famous for its Naggar castle which is an old structure made of stone and wood that stands on i
