Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Tara's House Holiday
Four of us stayed for a luxurious holiday in this comfortable house with stunning views out to Loch Foyle. We were warm on the days that proved chilly because of underfloor heating but really enjoyed our deck sunning ourselves on bright days. We ate very well at Kealys seafood restaurant and enjoyed drinks at various pubs. There are so many places to visit for walks and the beaches are beautiful. We would recommend this house for most people and it is all on a level though for a wheelchair user the drive is very steep and the showers are not chair friendly.

Perfect spot for a family holiday
We stayed in Tara’s house at the end of October 2021. It was extremely comfortable for 2 families (4 adults, 4 children, 1 dog), with 4 bedrooms and lots of bathrooms. The kitchen/living area is perfect for cooking big meals, whilst the children can watch movies and play, and the view of the sea out the window can only bring a smile to your face. Strove lighthouse was a short walk down the hill, and not far past that we had coffee and cake! Greencastle itself is a good walk / 5 min car spin and is an extremely welcoming spot. Tara’s house is quiet, remote, private, and a safe spot for children to potter around. The house is completely accessible, all on ground level, and honestly, it couldn’t have been a better location for our trip. Kate and Gavin, the owners, left us lovely treats upon arrival and were extremely helpful if we had any questions. We are already planning our next holiday.

Excellent stay at Tara's House
We had the most amazing week in Tara’s House. Definitely one of the best houses we have stayed in and the views are out of this world. The house is very spacious, beds very comfortable with high quality linen and towels. The kitchen is well stocked, lovely outdoor seating area, plenty of board games and books to keep you entertained. So much to do in the surrounding areas, beautiful loop walk, beaches within walking distance. We did a day trip to Derry and did a fantastic walking tour. Did another trip to Malin Head, it is about 35 min drive from the house. Kate and Gavin were so attentive and the treats on arrival were very much appreciated after a long drive. This is a house that we would love to come back to. 5 stars and a very happy family after a week of relaxation. We are only sorry we didn’t book two weeks! Thank you Kate & Gavin!

Ideal child and pet friendly house
We have just returned from a fabulous family holiday. Not only was the weather fantastic but the house itself was amazing(a real home from home). What a view to wake up to in the morning!! We had a 1 year old and a 20 months old child with us and the garden and patio were ideal for them to play in(an added bonus would have been a little gate to prevent them escaping out to the car parking area). The surrounding beaches are magnificent very sandy and perfect for the children. The little treats left for us were very much appreciated. We would highly recommend Tara's House and hope to return at some future date.

Tara's is the Tops
Stayed at Tara's recently with extended family. Having been to Ireland many times I can tell you that Tara's is absolutely in the top 1% of places to stay. The house itself is huge with 2 ensuite master bedrooms and 1 twin and 1 double room that share a bathroom. It was big enough to easily accommodate 6 adults and 2 children. The kitchen, dining and living room have an open space concept which makes it large and airy. The view from this area is SPECTACULAR and the giant windows make it impossible to ignore. Being Ireland, the scenery changes constantly as the sun and clouds roll by and over the water and you can enjoy this vision as you sit on a very nice deck sipping your tea or cocktail. I might add here, that you are standing in the south of Ireland and looking over Lough Foyle to the north. When in service there is a ferry that can take you over in a short time and save you time in the drive to the sights in the north. The yard is also quite nice and well kept. The kitchen and bathrooms are modern, as is the whole house, but not in the utilitarian way so common in Europe. Couches and chairs were comfy. The house is very private as it sits on a hill just below the road and there are no other houses next to it. Yet is only a short walk to the local pub and beaches. There is also an old Norman castle nearby and many beautiful beaches and drives along the Inishowen Penisula. Kate and Gavin are attentive owners and we enjoyed meeting and talking to them. We have told many friends about Tara's and we are hoping to bring them to Ireland in the future and we will definitely be planning on staying there. It's a fantastic place to relax and enjoy one of the most beautiful areas of Ireland. The pictures of this house are very good but do not give it full justice.

Excellent
We stayed here in the first week of May 2016. The accommodation is excellent. The three doubles and the twin were all lovely rooms. Cooking facilities were spot on. There is plenty of room for a family run around outside though the reality isn't just as big as appears from the photographs. The kitchen/living room area was perfectly suited for the extended family with just a little care needed for the tiled floor. The views are splendid and the whole house at a very comfortable temperature. There are plenty of drives/walks nearly and the children loved the Lama a short distance up the road. Moville is very handy and there is an excellent take-away on the main street, Good food, good quantity, good price. There is also a shop selling Maud's ice-cream! The house was clean & everything satisfactory. We did have to clean out the filter of the tumble dryer to make it work and similarly with the filter on the washing machine, but these were quickly attended to. A brilliant stay.

Would recommend this property without hesitation
This house was easy to find and in perfect order. The first obvious advantage is the view, as you drive into the property. Just stunning. Kate and Gavin had had a quick turnaround that day, but you would not have known that there had been guests there before us. The place was spotless. The wine and beautiful cake made for a very nice welcome treat too! We were travelling with one person with limited mobility. The house was easy for her to navigate, as it is all on one level. We were seven adults for the weekend, but the house felt roomy and not cramped, the open plan kitchen and living room made for a socialable space whilst cooking/dining, the stunning views being the icing on the cake! Having en suites with showers were also a blessing after coming in from walking/ swimming. The area has much to offer and we could have stayed longer than a weekend so we hope to return. Would recommend this property without hesitation.
