The Doghouse, Wicken, near old Stratford

Overview
Bungalow -
1 Bedroom , 1 Bathroom , Sleeps 2
Old Stratford, Northamptonshire, England
The Doghouse is self-contained with a double bedroom, open plan kitchen-sitting room and a shower room. There is heating and a small log burner; we supply the wood. Parking is free and on the property. There is a gravelled courtyard to enjoy the British weather in!. The Doghouse is situated next to the host's home, in a quiet, secluded location in the countryside at the end of a bridle path [The Shaw] by the side of a working wood [Park Copse]; great for wildlife lovers. There are some lovely country walks around us and we welcome well-behaved dogs, two maximum. We have two dogs and a cat. We are at the edge of picturesque Wicken village which has a friendly pub serving food from Tuesdays - Sunday lunch. If you are looking a haven in the heart of the countryside, then this is the place for you!

Loved staying here, all the facilities you could need and clean. Set in a beautiful part of the countryside with lovely walks for the dog.

We returned for a second visit after enjoying this place a year or two ago. The region is perhaps unappreciated as a holiday destination, and it can be difficult to find somewhere so welcoming to both humans and dogs. Although easily accessible by road, the...More

How to get there
Postcode is MK185PA, we will show on Google maps as The Shaw.

From Milton Keynes [A5] or Towcester/Northampton [M1]: at the Stony Stratford roundabout at the end of the A5, take the Deanshanger exit. Turn right at the Deanshanger roundabout and stay on the road until it curves left then take a right opposite The Beehive pub. You will pass a primary school and The Conservative club; take a right just after the club, to Wicken. Look out for walkers, cyclists and horse riders on the road to Wicken! When you reach Wicken, follow the road round to the left, past the Lion pub. At the T junction, turn right into Cross Tree Road. Follow the road which will curve left past a small field and then right past more houses. As you come to the outskirts of the village, you will drive past a w...
