John & Melanie welcome each guest personally and are usually on-site to help you get the very most from your stay (and to feed the birds!). We have lived in the area since 1997 and can advise the best walks, places to visit, restaurants, local attractions, etc. and show you them on an Ordnance Survey map (which you may borrow). We can help light the fire in your cottage, show you how to keep it going, and liaise with local businesses - and we usually have some special offers arranged just for our guests.

When booking a cottage at Exmoor Cottage Holidays through Holiday Lettings, Trip Advisor (HL/TA), or their Partners, you must ensure that you agree to the Terms & Conditions below. Breach of these Terms may result in anyone staying in the cottage being asked to leave the property immediately without refund for holiday days lost.

About the neighbourhood
Challacombe is an ideal base from which to explore Exmoor and the north Devon and Somerset coast - within half-an-hours drive are the wide sandy beaches of Woolacombe and Croyde; the seaside resorts of Instow and Ilfracombe; the charming villages of Lynton and Porlock; the medieval towns of Dulverton and Dunster; scenic attractions Tarr Steps and The Valley of Rocks and the whole of Exmoor, with its amazing scenery and wildlife. With so little light pollution at night, Exmoor National Park was the first Dark Skies Reserve in Europe.

Car drives offer the best flexibility for seeing the sights and getting around in our area.
There is a taxi company in the village for tours.
Alternatively there are many walks from the cottage door - including a short walk to the shop/Post Office and local pub (with award winning food).

Railway: Barnstaple: 17.0 km
Postal address: Exmoor Cottage Holidays, Town Tenement Farm, Challacombe, Exmoor, North Devon EX31 4TS. We are on Google Maps but advise you NOT to follow your Satnav.

Recommended Directions:

1. From the Aller Cross Roundabout near South Molton on the A361, take the A399 signposted to Ilfracombe & Combe Martin.
2. Continue on the A399 for about 10 miles (past Brayford signposted to the right and Bratton Fleming to the left) and turn right along the B3358 towards Simonsbath.
3. Turn 2nd right after about 2.5 miles, signposted Four Cross Way (about 50 yards BEFORE the Black Venus inn).
4. Exmoor Cottage Holidays at Town Tenement Farm is about 250 yards (3rd five-bar gate) on the right hand side.
