Cetona, Tuscany
Here you are in the heart of a small Tuscan town where you can observe the daily habits of its inhabitants and participate in the pleasant rituals and routines that make life here so delightful and relaxing. Tourists have yet to discover Cetona and you'll find that the town has very few tourist trappings and yet a lot to offer in the way of excellent restaurants, cafes and grocers right on your doorstep. No need for a car to arrive at two of the best restaurants in the area which are a stroll across the piazza and visible from our windows.

There is always life in the piazza any time of year.. Linger over a cappuccino in the piazza or enjoy a glass of wine at Nilo's, where trays of delicious nibbles accompany a drink order. This is our definition of happy hour!

At the Saturday morning market in the piazza you will marvel at th...

About the neighbourhood
Whatever the time of year, there is always something to celebrate in Cetona. Wine and olive oil tastings, flower festivals and many other festivals, mostly centred around food take place in the piazza. Locals welcome your participation in celebrating their town and its culture.

Within a 40 minute drive, you can visit Montepulciano, Montalcino (home of Brunello wine), Pienza, San Casciano dei Bagni and numerous other beautiful places.

If you enjoy walking, there are many good hikes which give you the maximum enjoyment of the beautiful countryside. There are also grottoes - some reputed to have been visited by St. Francis of Assisi - to be visited and a number of beautiful churches.
Getting around
I have managed perfectly well without a car. There is a bus service to Chiusi from where you can catch a train to almost everywhere. There is a regular service between Florence and Rome. There are also taxis at Chiusi station. I have used the bus/train combination to go to Siena, Arezzo, Florence, Cortona, the spa in Chianciano and other places.

Obviously a car will give you more freedom to explore better. There are a number of car rental companies in Chiusi within walking distance of the station. There is ample free parking a 2 minute walk from the apartment. You may park in the piazza for 30 minutes.
