Port-Vendres is a lively fishing village and port with breathtaking scenery where you can stroll in the vineyards or bathe in the clear water of a secluded cove. Linen hire. Daily Ryan Air flights to Perpignan & Gerona. Good train links. For further details contact us. Climate & Surrounding Countryside: Sheltered by the Pyrenees, this part of France has an exceptionally mild climate and more than 300 days of sunshine a year. The Tramontane wind comes from the North West and chases away any rain clouds! Port-Vendres lies in the foothills of the Pyrenees, on whose steep slopes are grown some excellent wines, notably the delicious fortified wine of Banyuls. Those wishing to walk can follow the many mule tracks through the vineyards or walk along the cliff tops and experience breath-taking coastal views of the Corbiere mountains to the North and the Costa Brava to the South. The rugged coastline provides charming secluded beaches and opportunities for fishing and scuba diving. Beaches & Attractions: There are a variety of beaches within easy reach. There are several small beaches in Port-Vendres itself, restaurant-bedecked beaches at Collioure and Banyuls, a nice family beach surrounded by vineyards with bar and restaurant at Paulilles, (which takes five minutes by car or can be reached on foot along the cliff tops) and long sandy beaches four miles to the North at Argeles. In Summer, a little yellow “train” runs from Port-Vendres to the historical village of Collioure, passing through the vineyards. Famous for its clock tower and chateau, it has long been the haunt of artists, such as Picasso and Matisse, and artists can be seen at work around the harbour. The region is steeped in history and many interesting excursions can be made to its medieval villages, fortresses, Cathare chateaux and beautifully restored Romanesque abbeys.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.
If you have submitted a review for a holiday rental property, we may also ask that you provide us with proof of your stay to ensure that your review is attached to the correct rental property.
Holiday rental reviews collected via the VRBO website (formerly Homeaway) and syndicated to the Tripadvisor website are not currently subject to Tripadvisor’s standard moderation processes.

Fantastic holiday
This was our second stay in this great apartment, with it's impressive views of the port. Situated so close to local shops and restaurants and of course the beautiful beaches; the apartment was again very comfortable, clean and well equipped.

Lovely place for relaxed autumn week
We were here in the second half of October, pleasant weather for walking, with lots of oportunities in surroundijng country. The flat is ideal: about 5 mins up a hill from the port, with views out to sea and towards the mountains directly behind the town. very comfortable bed, kitchen well-equipped and everything in good order, A nice place just to sit around if you don't want to go out. There are all the shops you need within a few minutes. The supermarket stocks some dairy-free and gluten-free food (which we needed), but there is an excellent organic/health shop in Colloure (about half an hour walk by the low-lying route, or bus a few minutes) - rue Jules Ferry - with a larger selection. Port Vendres is small, but definitely a working port: fish is sold on the quay early morning and late afternoon. The so called fish-market is now more a classy fishmonger and doesn't seem to receive fish direct. We were there at a quiet time, and not many people in the residence or the town, which suited us. We went there by train overnight, which was OK.

A money can't buy experience! Unexpected treat during our wonderful holiday.
The only thing more remarkable than our view from the apartment of simply the best fireworks display we have ever seen is the fact that nobody else has mentioned it in previous reviews! Like royalty we watched the Bastille celebration fireworks over the harbour from our "royal balcony" in comfort, with our well stocked bar and no queues. The apartment is well equipped, well maintained and in a prime location with its own parking space the choice of things to do in this area is extensive. We will be back again for sure. Allez Port Vendres...5 star

Excellent apartment, first class, great costal town, well worth the trip ))
The property was as advertised and as per the pictures shown and was clean & tidy when we arrived contrary to one of the reviews posted. The toilet appears to have been replaced with a new one and the apartment is well equipped with comfortable furnishings and lots of interest from light open windows. The private parking for the flat is a big bonus and this quiet location is very convenient for the town/harbour/sea front with the many harbour side restaurants and cafes within a few minutes stroll. A good quality supermarket is less than 200 yards away. The key feature of Port-Vendres itself must be the availability of fresh fish with the days catch being sold on the harbour side straight from the boats during the week or the outstanding retail shop in the wholesale fish market which has its own bar if you want to linger over some local wine and oysters whilst deciding what to cook that night. Convenient take off point for both the coast and the mountains behind with great walking and touring. Both the coast road and the route over Col de Banyuls (the road is not shown as a crossing on any of the maps but is signposted and metalled on both sides of the border) are really scenic ways to drive across into Spain. Lots of well marked walking routes so worth taking sturdy shoes/boots to fully enjoy them. Particularly recommend the various walks up to and around the two towers you can see in the hills behind and the effort is rewarded with superb views. Fully recommend both the property and the location.

Not as advertised
Good location, beautiful views, plenty of hot water. We booked this apartment as described, via Chez Nous website. However, the apartment we got was entirely different - even in a different building! It was very disappointing. See photographs attached from our holiday. Fridge was mouldy and smelt horrible, fittings & fixtures were poor, some furniture needed replacing and the kitchen worktop was showing significant wear and tear - going into holes. The balcony was narrow- one chair depth. Before booking, check you are getting the right apartment!!
