Region: From the lush green farmlands of the Borders to the ruggedness of the Highlands, the Scots are proud of their land and identity. Scotland also has some of Britain's best beaches with glorious stretches of clean sand over which to roam. Town: Although it is no longer an island the village of Isle of Whithorn still retains the name as a link to its historic past. The village lies by the harbour on the southern tip of the Machars Peninsula, and the area has been designated as an outstanding conservation area. The village has a rich history, and trading from the port dates back to Viking times and there are the remains of a 13th Century chapel at the end of the harbour. This region is steeped in ancient and modern history and there are countless sites of historical interest to visit, from Iron Age and Mesolithic Forts to standing stones. This area is a fascinating region and makes a great base for a family holiday.More

This apartment is potentially perfect. The location is wonderful, with great views of the harbour and a fantastic pub practically next door. Easy parking on site. But there were a few things that spoiled the place, which a bit of TLC and about £50 would...More
