To make sure you do not become a victim of a pick pocket or car thief you should take care to keep valuables and large amounts of cash in your hotel's safe rather than on your person. Men should carry their wallets in their front pockets, and while at the beach try to make sure that there is always at least one person "guarding" belongings such as hotel keys and money while others are swimming.
