Mooloolaba is on the sunshine Coast of Queensland. It is in an ideal position for those who enjoy lovely beaches and scenery .You can walk for miles either along the beach or alongside the beach on shady paths. The town of Mooloolba has plenty of places to eat and drink. All tastes and budgets are catered for.
The lifestyle is so different, it is laid back and everyone is so friendly. The weather of course is great which encourages an outside lifestyle. You can watch numerous weddings taking place on the beach.
The seaside apartments all have a fantastic views. Sitting on the balcony, watching the sailboats go out late in the afternoon is a lovely sight. You can hire a car but the local bus service is very good so you may not need to bother. There are no very large stores or supermarkets in Mooloolaba but there is a Coles supermarket which is handy for the basics when you first arrive. There is a bigger Coles or Woolworths in Marochydore for more choice and prices tend to be lower. You can walk there, (it's about 2miles, but along the coast so it's a lovely walk) and take the bus back with your shopping. There are also supermarkets in Kawana Waters which is another nice walk in the other direction.
The cost of living in Oz is much lower so it's not expensive to eat out every night .The best deals to be had are in places like the Surf club or the Bowls club on Brisbane Road. The Surf Club is right on the beach and you can have a drink on the balcony looking out to the sea. What is very different about Oz is that Monday to Thursday everywhere closes early about 10pm. This is because at 6.30 in the morning if you look out of the window, there are hundreds of locals walking, running, walking dogs etc on the beach or beach path before going to work. Weekends, all places are open later and the town is very lively. The Wharf complex is nice, there is not an awful lot there but the Fish and chips are good and the Wharf tavern does meals which are quite reasonable. Also in the gaming lounge at the Tavern there is complimentary coffee and pastries for players.
For those of you who have not been to Oz, there is gaming in many places called pokies. These are slot machines. Most of them take low bets so you can have a flutter and not loose a great deal of money. They are good fun.You can win a few bob anyway. The Gold Coast is nice as well but of the two, the Sunshine Coast is not as built up and the scenery is much nicer. Mooloolaba is a lovely place for a holiday, you can do as little or as much as you want.
