On the Greek island of Mykonos there are many activities to keep the visitor entertained.

The most obvious place to spend a day is on one of the many white sand beaches that the island has to offer.  But there is much more to do than just soaking up the sun and swimming in the cool water.  Mykonos is one of the best places in the Aegean Sea for scuba diving.  Certain islands in the area do not allow diving for various reasons, but this is not the case here.  There are numerous dive sites around the island with a great deal of diversity, including reefs, rocks and wrecks.  There are quite a few dive companies operating on the island, four of which can be found at Mykonos Dive .

Many other beach activities are available including snorkeling, jet skiing, water skiing, wind surfing, and even beach golfing.

Windsurfing: From late spring through to the end of the summer season the meltemi winds make Kalafatis beach a windsurfers     paradise. Here you will find a windsurfing school (offering equipment rental) and also organised surfing competitions. Note: although remote, public bus services are available to the beach from Mykonos town’s Remezzo bus Station (KTEL service: Ano Mera - Kalafatis – Elia).

Only 2.5km from Mykonos town is Korfos Beach well known for its regular winds and shallow waters. Here you will find KiteMykonos, a school providing courses on kite surfing.

Visiting the island’s numerous museums is a good activity for a day out of the sun.  Visit Museums for more information.

Exploring the city on foot can also be very enjoyable.  With so much to see, this can fill more than just one day.  There are many great shopping opportunities on the island as well.
