Music is the heartbeat of Nashville, and you’ll find it everywhere—from the rollicking honky-tonks on Lower Broadway to the legendary Grand Ole Opry. You could easily spend your days discovering up-and-coming bands or catching old faves perform, but there’s so much more to do. Stroll through historic Germantown: It’s one of the city’s oldest neighbourhoods, chock-full of Victorian charm and trendy restaurants with menus that go beyond hot chicken (although you’ll definitely want to try that too—it’s world-famous for a reason). Or grab a drink and check out some art galleries in Wedgewood-Houston. And while cocktail lounges and country music are definitely the thing, there’s plenty of nature too. Walk or bike along the winding greenways (there’s almost 100 miles of them), kayak on the Cumberland River, hit a hiking trail—it’s all right in town. There’s even more going on, and we’ve got recs below.

With its nonstop entertainment and southern hospitality, Nashville has become the bachelorette capital of the world. You can’t beat the energy: Bride tribes roam the streets in pink cowboy hats and rhinestone boots, woo-hooing into the night. I had my wedding and hen do here, so I know all the go-to spots to create unforgettable memories before the big day and have an epic last fling.

- Nearest Green Distillery413Take a 45-minute road trip from downtown Nashville to visit Uncle Nearest Distillery in Shelbyville, Tennessee, known for its award-winning whiskey and cool history (it’s inspired by the first known African-American master distiller). Check out the 100-foot-long bar and order the 1856 Premium Whiskey for a smooth taste with hints of caramel and oak. Or get crazy with the 114.2 proof Master Blend—it’s so strong it’ll put hair on your chest.
