Puerto Vallarta will hit you right in the gut.
I mean that both good and bad. It’s a city that captivated me the first time I visited nearly five years ago. Of all the cities I’ve been to in Mexico (and I’ve been to a lot, having lived in the country and visited more than 60 times), it is the one that has burrowed deepest into my heart.

We didn’t stay overnight but we enjoyed their weekly party last night. The venue is gorgeous - a restored brick building with multiple spaces to gather and talk on several levels. You’ll get a good calf workout climbing to the top. The ground floor has a pool and large jacuzzi (which you can see in the middle photos taken from the top floor). There’s a small entry fee of 200 pesos and a bar inside. Super fun!
