The hotel need capital upgrades. Everything old. Service and food below average. Pool fool of screaming kids. In overal it worth no more then 40 dollars per night.
We suppose to stay here for 3 nights but we left after first night.

Hotel is approximately 40 mins from Puerto Vallarta Airport using the transfer service provided by the tour operator. The Samba Vallarta is not actually located in the main town of Puerto Vallarta but in a ''hotel zone'' in Neuvo Vallarta. The hotel is smaller than most resorts and was attractive on arrival. Note; there is nowhere to walk to on an evening if you were to step out of the hotel as it is in the ''hotel zone''. Taxi into Puerto Vallarta downtown was approx $260 pesos and around 30 mins drive. It was a lovely town. The hotel itself was compact, with only 4 floors of rooms in 2 main buildings. Beach was seconds away from the pool. Beach was clean with a few vendors situated under a canopy at one end and throughout the day the odd one or 2 walk along the beach offering hair braiding and mangos/coconuts for approximately $50 pesos each approx. These vendors are not part of the hotel so be aware. They never bothered us at all during our stay. There were plenty of sun beds and shade available. The beach is very open and during our stay (Sept 2018) we did not venture in as it was too rough even for adults and we also had a 7 and 11 yr old with us. This did make us spend more time around the pool. Unfortunately tourists at this resort still felt the need to get up in the early hours of the morning and reserve sunbeds by any means necessary including single shoes and plastic shovels to each bed and not turn up to use them for several hours sometimes late into the afternoon. This left many guests wondering around looking for somewhere to set up for the day. It resembled 1960's Spain memories for us. Thought tourists had grown out of this and were more thoughtful in their ways. Obviously not! Pool was large and had a small pirate ship set up with slides which the kids loved and played on for hours of entertainment. The pool entertainment did start early and went on through to around 4pm in the afternnon. Music ranged from 20 minutes of UB40 to rave music for the next 5 hours at painful volumes every day. Not our cup of tea and is the main reason we would not be returning as well as the lack of opportunity to swim in the sea. The rooms were clean and roomy. The Superior rooms don't all come with balconies as we found out and the resort wanted more money to upgrade. It would be nice to know that there is a superior room with balcony when booking. Hate hanging wet swim wear in the bathroom as there's never enough room. The beds were lovely and comfortable and the pillows were feathered not polyester so they did have the usual odor that comes with feathers. Nothing that stopped my good nights sleep! Blackout drapes, plenty of drawer space and working tv with a few english channels. Digital room safe so no keys to lose and no cost to the safe. Bathroom needed a little TLC but all in working order with body wash and shampoo provided free of charge in large pump bottles. Walls are paper thin so out of respect for neighbors, volumes were kept to a bare minimum. Not all residents were that thoughtful. There is also an elevator in the reception area to the rooms and is the only one. There are plenty of stairs to access the rooms at various points. Pool view rooms did get an angled view of the ocean which was lovely for the sunsets. We stayed in room 415. As we were staying out of season there were many locals staying bringing the resort to capacity which did not affect line ups or service. Everyone was pleasant and friendly which was lovely. The pool bar had a variety of cocktails and a special each day. The beer on tap was not the greatest but you could order an amber beer which was lovely and also included in the All Inclusive but you did have to ask for it. There were arts and crafts offered for the children by the entertainment staff everyday which my 7 year old got very involved with and enjoyed very much. Snack bar at pool had all the usual offerings most days including burgers, hotdogs, salads, sometimes spicy seafood cocktails, pastas and chicken nuggets. We preferred the buffet. The main buffet had plenty of choice with a hot station every night. Each night had a different theme such as Carribbean, Mexican, Italian, Peruvian and International. There was always a good variety and the chicken was the best chicken I have ever had at any all inclusive anywhere, very tender and never dry. Food was well cooked and well stocked and always hot. The A la cartes we attended twice and both were great. Enjoyed the meal and the red wine. Service was impeccable. Tipped well with all staff throughout the vacation as they deserved the recognition. The lobby bar was a great place to relax but NEEDS THE FANS putting back in. The heat was unbearable and it appears the fans were replaced with an abundance of lighting that is totally unnecessary. This is something we feel really needs to be looked at for the guests as well as poor Bruno who was hanging in there with the heat every night of our trip. Reception was clean and tidy and the ladies were always polite and helpful when needed. In regards to staff, my family would like management to recognize these employees for their dedication, hard-work, bubbly personalities and their passion to help and please holidaymakers; Israel the concierge, this man is a wealth of knowledge and a huge part of the customer service team. He organised for us the get safely into Puerto Vallarta for a day and get us back to the hotel. There was nothing this man couldn't do for you. Bruno in the lobby bar, worked tirelessly everyday and was a pleasure for my husband to chat with every night when the children and I had gone to bed. Ricardo and Francisco in the a la cartes. Their service was 1st class and very professional. They were very polite and accommodating with our children. Victor the bellboy impressed my husband with his helpful manner and bubbly personality. His English was very good also. Antonio, Jose and Ismael at the buffet were very polite and always on the ball. Jose was able to accommodate my daughters request for guacamole as it wasn't on the buffet one evening without fuss and Ismael even though a quieter individual he again was just as accommodating when we asked for things out of the blue. Carolin was also a bubbly individual. She made me smile every time I saw her. She always looked like she was really enjoying her work! Big shout out to David, he really inspired my children with magic tricks most dinners and kept them entertained throughout. On the last day my youngest had an ear infection and was feeling a little under the weather, David prepared some chicken soup and a lovely desert to wish us a safe journey home. That extra mile was spot on. Genaro was also very attentive and have several conversations with my husband about the various strangely colored drinks (they were very tasty! :) Lore who was there on the hot counter every day at breakfast was the perfect cook. Always smiling, always quick and always spot on with our orders. You are an asset to the team girl! The housekeeping staff were brilliant. Our rooms were always spotless and a big shout out to the chef team and those in the dish-washing department. I could see you all working tirelessly in the background as I left the buffet most nights. We appreciate that the food doesn't cook itself and the plates don't clean themselves either. Thank you all! All in all I would recommend this resort to anyone looking for something more upbeat but not a huge resort. It has everything a younger family would need. There were plenty of kids here and not really in my opinion for couples looking for peace and quiet. The resort does get our thumbs up. Thanks for a great stay everyone!

Room Tip: Higher floor poolview north facing for the sunsets!

Dont let pictures fool you . we left the next day and went to the occidental . food was crap , dining area was more like a staff lunchroom . They will fine you for everything . the beach was dirty and full of litter. Staff were unfriendly and uncaring. Smoke alarm ripped off our roof . my sisters door to her room wouldnt even close . just a plain dump . If you want high end hotel for a good price . GO TO THE OCCIDENTAL . I have nothing nice to say about the samba . except leaving was the best part of our stay at the samba .
