“Friendly and welcoming”
Reviewed 6 May 2016 for a stay in April 2016

This is a lovely accommodation. I stayed with husband and 1 year old. The location is peaceful, the gardens are beautiful (the pool wasn't in use as was too cold in April -but it looks lovely). The best thing is Nicole and Jean Pierre. They are really welcoming and accommodating to their guests. You are in a separate building and they provide a very french breakfast every morning. Homemade jams and honey and they make their own bread too!

One massive plus was a really large and comfy bed. I'm fussy when it comes to beds and this was huge - and firm. Perfect sleeping conditions.

I highly recommend the home cooked dinner - we had it for two nights and it was so delicious. Nothing else compared! On the first day we had popped out for lunch and arrived back to find that Nicole had got a fire going in the hearth and left us with some wood for the weekend. It was absolutely wonderful and really cosy (April was colder than we thought). The main bedroom is spacious and warm. We had our one year old in a cot (they provided) and we had plenty of room. We also rented the living space and that was great too. Much colder, so do take layers with you if you are going out of season as we did. It's true rustic, shabby chic french gite. Really well decorated and fully stocked (a lovely armoire with everything you need to cook).

We were attending a wedding at Chateau Soulac and this was under 10 minute drive away. A good value option if you are heading out there for that.

You won't be disappointed.

“wonderful hosts and the most beautiful surroundings”
Reviewed 17 June 2015 for a stay in June 2015

My partner and I stayed for three nights at Claire Abbaye and our welcome from Nicole and Jean Pierre was so lovely! They are such a kind and welcoming couple, helpful and friendly whilst allowing us our own space and privacy in the Gite across from their home.
We were invited to join them for breakfast every morning and the homemade jams and warm croissants were such a treat. Whilst we didn't speak very good French and Nicole only has a small amount of English, we were able to communicate easily with smiles and laughter.
The Gite is lovely, simple and well equipped. We had only rented the bedroom part but on arrival asked if we could extend to the kitchen area too and for an extra charge this was no problem.
The most wonderful part of the whole experience was being able to enjoy the most beautiful gardens that the couple have created. They are filled with roses and beautiful flowers, amazing views, gorgeous benches to admire the surroundings and the most wonderful outdoor pool which was simply heaven.
Jean Pierre even invited us to pick some cherries off the trees in the garden for us to enjoy - it was such a wonderful experience and we would happily return and highly recommend! Merci beaucoup Nicole and Jean Pierre!
