We stayed here for two nights and enjoyed the cool mountain air, the beautiful views and great hospitality of the owner, Erika. Located just outside the town, it is a quiet spot with lots of birds and animals and three friendly rescue dogs. There are three separate buildings-all with great views and each has a full kitchen. Breakfast gets delivered to your place every afternoon-local eggs, sausage bread coffee, fresh fruits and for dinner you can either cook your own or go into town. It is located about an hour North of Santiago, Panama and is a great place to spend a relaxing time.

I want to thank Erica and her Staff for the such an enjoyable stay. I am a solo traveler from Canada and felt very comfortable and safe at Casa Mariposa. So much attention to detail in the Villa, first class all the way; Breakfast every morning. Sitting on the deck, sipping coffee, amazing views of gardens and mountains, hearing the symphony of bird songs, and a great place for meditation.
Truly awesome!

We live in a rural area of Panama near the town of Penonome on the Pacific side of Panama. I am a U.S. transplant; wife is a native Panamanian. We love our home place... 4 dogs, mangos, papayas, bananas, plantain, yucca, avocados and many things you probably haven't heard of. But occasionally we yearn for a change of scenery. We have taken many short trips throughout Panama, but we discovered one setting that keeps drawing us back...Santa Fe and the Villas at Casa Mariposa. We have stayed 4 or 5 times since "discovering" it about 5 years ago. We are rewarded each visit with the same degree of beauty, tranquility, hospitality, and comfort that Erica provides.

Room Tip: We've stayed in each, and have been equally pleased with each.

I stayed at Casa Mariposa for 2 nights in early April. It was my second visit, having stayed a couple of nights in January of this year as well. The villas are clean and comfortable, and have fully equipped kitchens. There is a lot to explore in and around Santa Fe, including hiking, horseback riding, river tubing, birding or just relaxing at Casa Mariposa in a hammock and enjoying the beautiful views and the sound of birds. There are several stunning waterfalls to explore and the National Park is all around the area. There is no WiFi, so come prepared to be off the grid and into the experience. Also if you drive make sure to fill your gas tank in Santiago as there is no gas station in Santa Fe.
Érica is a great host who will provide lots of local tips and make sure you are comfortable. She has 2 friendly dogs who love to join you for walks if you are so inclined. I definitely plan on returning again sometime later this year.

Our stay at Casa Mariposa was GREAT. Erica is a lovely host and takes care of everything. She loves what she does and where she lives and as a guest you can feel that love. She also took us to the busstation the day we left. You can prepare your own breakfast (Erica delivers it in your cabin the day before!) and have it on your porch in your own time.
The garden is beautiful, the dogs are cute (even if you normally don't like dogs ;).
Whenever we visit Panama in the future, we'll definately come back here!!
Tips for other travellers:
Take a walk to the swimmingholes, and get a massage in your cabin from Rachel afterwards. Order your dinner to heat up in your cabin: Graham is the best chef ever! His food is terrific (also for vegetarians)
