“Lovely cottage, lovely village.”
Reviewed 4 April 2015 for a stay in February 2015

We stayed at the cottage to visit friends in the area and show my young family where I grew up and all the places I loved as a child. It was a lovely cottage to base ourselves and we loved coming back and making a roaring fire in the evenings. Super village to wander around and walk the dog.Durham city is beautiful and just as friendly as I had remembered. The cottage was an ideal base.

“Brilliant cottage in a quaint village within driving distance of Durham.”

We stayed here for a week at the end of October. Although the weather was unusually warm we still lit the fire and the hot tub. It was a much needed rest for us.
The cottage was lovely with everything we needed. We only had to buy our food to cook. Although all of the pubs around serve food and there are lots of takeaways too. The only place that our dogs weren't allowed was in The Dunn Cow but it is more of a restaurant.
Across the road were plenty of fields to walk them and they were shattered most days.
The landlord of the Hardwick Arms recommended we drive to Durham College and then walk up the river into Durham. A lovely 25 minute walk along the river bank. It was just a shame the salmon weren't jumping the steps.

I would certainly consider staying at Cherry Blossom Cottage again and Lesley couldn't have been anymore helpful.

I'm delighted you had such a relaxing week. County Durham is certainly a great area to explore and I am pleased you found plenty to do whilst still having time to chill. I look forward to seeing you in the future the next time you come to visit the area.

This was a lovely cottage set in the heart of Sedgefield, a beautiful village. The owner Lesley, could not have been more helpful in ensuring our holiday was as good as possible. Large bedrooms and plenty of space overall. Fully equiped kitchen, including washer dryer, an essential if you have small children like us. Locals are very welcoming and Sedgefield has several good cafes, well stocked with delicious food and cakes! Plenty to do in the surrounding areas, you will not be bored. Tonnes for kids to do within a 30-40 min drive of the village. Great access to the motorway.

Liked best: The owner had a stock of travel/tourist information specific to the kids++++
Liked least: The double bed looked good however it was very shaky and squeeky when trying to get to sleep.

“Very cosy cottage and excellent host!”

Lovely cottage in easy driving distance of Durham and the coast. The wood burning hot tub is worth persevering with as it is such a treat and you can just about squeeze four small adults in, well maybe three! Our host was wonderful, very welcoming and lives in the same village so full of useful local knowledge. The beds were comfortable and the cottage was spotlessly clean. We had a wonderful few days here and will definitely be recommending the place to friends and family. Thank you Lesley!

“Lovely, homely cottage in good location”
Reviewed 3 June 2014 for a stay in May 2014

We stayed here for two nights en route to North Yorkshire and really enjoyed our stay. Sedgefield is a lovely village with lots of Pubs, restaurants and two Coffee Shops and even a dress shop. We visited Durham Cathedral, Bowes Museum and even went walking along the beach at Seaton Carew near Hartlepool, all these places being easy to get to. The cottage itself was very warm and cozy with everything we needed and the hot tub was wonderful and easy to use. Lesley, the owner was very helpful and made us feel very welcome on our arrival and we found the only downside was the small outside space.

Thanks for your kind comments. Yes, the cottage is definitely cosy and due to the centre of the village location, we only have a small outside area. However, I hope the inside of the cottage more than compensated for the outside. It is lovely to sit in the kitchen with a coffee and papers when the sun is streaming through the windows on a morning.

I'm pleased you enjoyed your stay and hope to see you again soon.
