Been here a few times with my family over the years and always found the hotel to be enjoyable. Breakfasts are good but the dinner ordering can be improved

Lovely grounds and fantastic early morning and dusk views over the mountains. Recommended!

We stayed for 2 nights, great location, great rooms and good breakfast. However, Dinner in the Braii was dissapointing. The way this place is fenced makes it look cheap and so is -sorry to say- the food in there. The lambchops were not at all barbecued properly, even the second time they fekt raw and the pork chops were cold and came from the kitchen. They have not seen the grill for longer than a minute. And that in a BRAII place! Any south african dad can do better! The side orders in the glasses may be a nice idea, but squeeze the salad into a little marmelade glass. Heavy mayonaised coleslaw and potato salad made us decide to eat out the next evening. This Brai place was not it, too bad in such a nice location!

Dear Werner L
Thank you for sharing your experience with us. We have two restaurants on site. I do apologise that your dining experience in Coals was not up to standard. I can assure you that that chef is no longer with the company. On a more positive note, I am pleased that you did enjoy the rest of the hotel.

Came here for a weekend getaway. Service was all around fantastic from the hotel to the restaurant staff. We tried the outdoor braai restaurant instead of fine dining, and we were not disappointed. Food was good and there is a great vibe. Breakfast was ok, less impressive. Same goes for the spa. Rooms were stunning. Will definitely be back.

Beautiful wine farm. The drought means that the lawns aren't nice but there is water in the pool and of course the bathrooms etc are fine. Lovely rooms -- well designed and built. We are in the 'Coals' outside area as we wanted a bbq dinner, which was a good choice. Many of the farmstays don't do dinner, which means you have to go and look for food in an unknown area (and drive back).

The next morning we not only had glorious breakfasts but was given some 'padkos' to take with!

My wife and I enjoyed just one night here but we could have easily spent more if our itinerary allowed.

The welcome was friendly and helpful and all the staff were pleasant and attentive. The property has a Cape Dutch style and is tastefully furnished. It has uninterrupted views across vineyards to the mountains beyond. Guest can enjoy an art gallery and swimming pool and it is adjacent to the Rijks winery and, although a separate business, we enjoyed a very good tasting that showcased their wines in the hotel. (Rijks Pinotage select cellar is excellent! )

Breakfast was extensive and a seven course dinner were both very good and well presented although we found the butternut soup had too much pepper.

We only had a superior room (as opposed to the deluxe) which was large, with a TV area and separate rooms for WC and bathroom which had twin basins, a twin walk - in shower and a large bath. The bed was large and very comfortable. Everything was spotlessly clean and tastefully furnished. We would definitely come here again when visiting the Western Cape.
