“A memorable place to stay in a convenient rural location”
Reviewed 8 November 2016 for a stay in July 2016

Cute. Very French. We loved bike riding out of Tours to local chateaus. Excellent administration.
Thank you.

“charming & peaceful”
Reviewed 23 September 2016 for a stay in August 2016

This charming gîte is perfect with its nice closed garden with trees and a peaceful view over the fields. The house is cozy and beautifully decorated. Its location is nice for excursions and there is hardly any traffic. The owner’s are very charming.

“Beautiful location, friendly host, clean and immaculately presented, but cooking facilities lacking”

Le Maigrebois is situated. in an idyllic location, looking out over fields. Alexandra was utterly charming and very friendly, even came to check us out at 6am. It is ideally situated for exploring the locality (Tours, Loches) and the closest village boasts a swimming pool, several bars, a pizzeria (eat in/take away) and a supermarket.

For us, travelling with children, the layout was not ideal. The master bedroom led into the 2nd twin room, which meant any toilet trips for the children passed through the master bedroom.

The main draw back for us was the lack of cooking facilities. There was no full size oven, although there was an electric hob and a microwave that could also be used as a grill. There were 2 fridges, but neither had adequate freezer compartments, essential in the summer. If you were a couple eating out all the time and only storing wine and champagne, this wouldn't be a problem. But with children, and cooking every day, this wasn't sufficient. The utensils were disappointing as well, considering the quality of the kitchen.

We also found the 500 Euros deposit a bit excessive, but we can understand why owners would put this in place to safeguard their property, however, we could see this being a sticking point for some and to be honest, we nearly withdrew because of it.

Nevertheless, the house is immaculate, with lots of little touches that make you feel at home. The outside facilities (parking/garden/views/ease of access) were fantastic and we were blessed with amazing weather.

“Perfect spot for a peaceful break!”
Reviewed 20 July 2015 for a stay in July 2015

Calm and tranquil, beautifully appointed in genuinely rural France. This charmingly restored cottage with all modern conveniences has the opportunity for country walks amongst the wild flowers and a restful garden on return to enjoy the birdsong. Supermarkets are but a short drive away and many famous chateaux within 30 miles. This was just the job for us. July 2015.
