“Lovely little rustic cottage/finca”
Reviewed 6 September 2016 for a stay in August 2016

This is a lovely little rustic cottage in a quiet location set back from the LP2 main road. It is a 15 min drive from the seaport in Santa Cruz and 10 minutes from the airport. There is a bus stop 200m from the cottage, but a car is strongly recommended for getting around the island.

Directions are simple. From Santa Cruz, follow road LP2 until you reach the 9km marker sign. Then take the second road on the right (a steep hill) and then the first entrance on the right. The cottage is adjacent to the Ceramics Factory and Shop, which are also signposted from the LP2. Just park where you see the parking sign for the Ceramics Shop. The owner met us at the car and was very helpful and friendly.

The cottage is really quaint and old-fashioned with real character but has been well-maintained and is super clean. It has very little private ground however, as the adjacent buildings within a stone's throw are the owner's own house and the ceramics factory. There is a small side terrace and a nice roof terrace with panoramic views, but there is no garden or large outdoor space. If you are looking for a private finca away from everyone, then this is probably not for you.

It is ideal for a couple, or perhaps a maximum for 4 people, but despite having 3 bedrooms, the single bathroom is very small and everyone will be queueing for showers. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you need for your stay. The beds are memory foam type and slightly on the firm side. There is also a BBQ outside. Free wifi signal is strong and reliable. There is a TV with local channels but it is a tiny PC monitor size.

Best of all, there is a chicken coop just down the pathway from the house. Guests are invited to help themselves to freshly laid eggs for breakfast, but grab some early or during the night, because by 11am there are few left. If you leave one of the cottage gates open, the owner's dog Nico, a friendly little jack russell cross may well come and join you for breakfast on the terrace once he smells your cooking.
