We were warned by people in the neighbourhood about this place, but unfortunately we didn't take their advice. We ordered turbot which came in small portions and unimaginatively served for 38 € and then the chef try to hustle us with his girolles (mushrooms) for 25 €. It is a standing joke in the area, afterwards people asked us if he tried to sell us his girolles and laughted. We've had better prepared and cheaper turbot in Paris, that it was so cramped as it is sometimes in Paris, but one doesn't expect that in the countyside where there is more place. All the tables where so close to one another one could hear the conversations of the other people and could hardly move and breathe. There are much better restaurants in the vicinty that deserve visiting.

Arrived , by chance , mid afternoon on a August sweltering day. Friendly "Ambassadrice; " showed us 2 pleasant rooms. We took one, facing the canal, which had all shutters closed to keep the heat out! Introduced to Alain Renaudin, Maître Chef , and Patron of his wonderful Domain!. Alain runs a tight ship, Brigade, and serves wonderful , locally sourced, flavoursome food , with a great sense of humour. Food served on a magic , outside terrace, overlooking the Canal, with perfect sunset. Restaurant was full on Monday night, so his fame is well known......... Excellent selection of local wines from St Bris, Coullanges, Irancy , and Cotes d' Auxerre. Burgundies from a stone throw away, with growing reputation .Immaculate service and an excellent breakfast.
Worth a 50 mile detour in my book! We shall definitely return.

Thanks Alain and your superb Team

John

Alain definitely runs a tight kitchen his staff respectful and food delivery is simply superb great looking looking and great tasting too, may be pricey but we enjoyed every second of our visit some good pairing recommendations by Alain, some may find him arrogant, I found him to be confident in what he offers, if you engage to learn the master will teach, Thank you for hosting Jax and I would love to return one day, wine list best I saw in France by far. Well done Team les Tilleuls

We found this lovely restaurant by chance - a superb meal from a great chef, with lots of little extras in addition to the menu we chose. Wonderful wine (obviously in this wine growing area!) A real treat to eat by the riverside in a beautiful setting.

We have just had lunch at this restaurant, I ordered the Plat du Jour which was 18 euros, my husband not liking salmon ordered steak off the main menu. This was 38 euros for a piece of steak no thicker than a rasher of bacon. Because my husband ordered off the main menu he charged both meals at these prices. Plat du Jour and my husband meal with 2 beers no wine was 110 euros.
Be warned!!
