Arrived , by chance , mid afternoon on a August sweltering day. Friendly "Ambassadrice; " showed us 2 pleasant rooms. We took one, facing the canal, which had all shutters closed to keep the heat out! Introduced to Alain Renaudin, Maître Chef , and Patron of his wonderful Domain!. Alain runs a tight ship, Brigade, and serves wonderful , locally sourced, flavoursome food , with a great sense of humour. Food served on a magic , outside terrace, overlooking the Canal, with perfect sunset. Restaurant was full on Monday night, so his fame is well known......... Excellent selection of local wines from St Bris, Coullanges, Irancy , and Cotes d' Auxerre. Burgundies from a stone throw away, with growing reputation .Immaculate service and an excellent breakfast.
Worth a 50 mile detour in my book! We shall definitely return.
