Well, I really don't know where to start... I am writing this in english since too many people have talked amazingly of Pelliccione in italian. And for very good reasons. I guess it's time for foreign people to start knowing where to go in order to appreciate the REAL ROMAN CUSINE!!!!!
There are too many good things to say about Pelliccione: starting from the environment and the location. The restaurant is close to the very center of beautiful Genzano, on the Castelli Romani. Please ask for a table outside when the season is good to enjoy the atmosphere. And when the winter is to rigid, just take the table close to the kitchen where you can see the cook making her best to make your dinner unforgettable.
And, talking good about the food has never been so easy... You want to let Pelliccione bring you his typical "Antipasti", a mix of all the good Roman stuff you should eat at least once in a lifetime. Fagioli e Cotiche, Coratella, Trippa alla Romana and a lot more. Please just google image them to have an idea, any other word is not necessary. And they are made the way your old roman grandmother would...
Just an advice: don't fulfill yourself with those because you would loose the main course. My favorite one is the Rigatoni all a Paiata. Again, words can not describe how amazing this dish is. If you feel like you have to try something different, go for the Gnocchi or with the amazing Pasta with Coda alla Vaccinara. Delicious.
And if you still have space, any grilled meat tastes very good even if my suggestion would be to get another typical dishes. Then why not try some Lamb, cooked how just Roman can!!!!
I am pretty sure you will be completely full after that, but you can't avoid to try the Tiramisu and be sure that Pelliccione will help you with the digestion with his amazing spirits directly from the cave (or in the cave if you want to move to a fresher spot!!!!).
Only down side, the restaurant don't take credit cards, but this is very old style as well, so be prepared with the bills. The price is really worth. With less than 30 euro you can have a complete dinner, an incredible evening and the feeling that your trip to Rome is finally complete.
