We were booked through Finn Jann Husky Farm to do an overnight dog safari but due to numbers we were redirected to the Husky Center Kolmiloukko. We were not disappointed - we were fortunate to have the owner Jussi on the two days and he is a great guide - full of stories and very personable.

Being our second over-night safari we had high expectations. The first time we followed our guide on his own team of dogs. This time we followed Jussi on his snow-mobile. Apparently it provides a better surface for the dogs to run - I didn't mind and the noise of the snow-mobile and its fumes was not obvious as you drive your team at a comfortable distance from the other teams so that it's a good ride for you and the dogs. The first day we drove in a small snow storm - about 40 cm of fresh snow - so it was a challenge for the dogs and us - especially at the lunch stops and sinking hip deep in snow. But great fun. Better than our first experience as the area is only used by Finn Jann Husky Farm and Kolmiloukko so it meant we didn't run into lots of snow-mobile safaris and dog safaris - only the once. The wilderness cabin is not so much in the wilderness but you have no running water and no electricity - electricity would have been nice but it keeps you warm getting fire wood and lugging water and feeding the dogs. Our cabin although appearing to be very isolated is quite near a road - we saw the lights of the snow plough that night ;)

I highly recommend an overnight dog safari with Jussi from Kolmiloukko - the area you drive through is spectacular. A one day dog safari is not enough - 5 days would be too long for me as I like the comforts and after one day of "roughing it" and I'm hankering for a warm and comfortable bed and shower. But the dogs make the experience and you get to know the dogs' personalities by the second day and they are so loveable.

It's obvious from being out with the dogs with Jussi that he loves and cares for his dogs and the Finnish winter countryside just tops it all off.

This place was alittle hard to find at first...but once i found it I didnt want to leave...My cabin was right in front of a lake....there was no tv no internet....just a view of the lake and a book was perfect.....watching the sunset over the lake and then the sunrise was truly a serene moment, something that I will always remember this place by. The owners are truly friendly and welcoming. And they will show you the huskies and will answer any questions you have.

The cabins are only bunk beds and a microwave, you do have a fridge...however if you drive up the road a bit there is a place that does burgers etc. The bathroom and toilets is only a short distance and are very modern.

The area is so nice and peaceful...you can truly be with nature here.
