This is a great little pioneer village for a small town. There are about 10 small buildings that give a great representation of early colonial lifestyle in a rural setting. The price is excellent for the value ($2 per person) just make sure they are open before going. The staff are very friendly and informative but there are usually only 2 and tend to stay in the main building. Hence, the experience is more or less self guided. I like to take a picnic lunch with my kids and eat on the grounds. It is safe and peaceful and usually not too many other people there.

My son and daughter in law held their wedding at the Scugog Shores and it was wonderful. The 155 year old Church on the premises was intimate and cozy for the 55 guests in attendance. The tea room was an added bonus, which was used for serving light munchies for the guests between the wedding and reception that was held at Jester Court. Dancing was held in the barn and provided wonderful ambiance for this country wedding. The staff were very helpful and accommodating and allowed free rein with decorating the premises. All in all the venue provided lots to do and see for guests as they toured the many old buildings on site and was a memorable experience. I would recommend anyone use this spot for any event they may have. It was affordable, entertaining and worthwhile.

This is a great museum for a small town. It is tucked away in the community center so its a bit hard to find but its worth the effort to find it.

A small but historically rich museum of the local area. The main building has quite a few unique items but it is the heritage village that holds the true excitement
