We had a wonderful stay at the Chapel of Barras Farm B&B close to Stonehaven (off the beaten track but well worth the ride a mile up the hill!) - we loved the peaceful surroundings as well as the beautiful rooms that had been newly built 12 years ago and are kept in meticulously clean state.
We were very lucky Michelle and David had a vacant room and will definitely book well in advance next time to make sure we can stay there for some time. Our double room was very spacious and pleasantly furnished (lots of tiny personal touches!) and had a big, beautiful bathroom and a separate closet for suitcase, shoes, clothing etc. Coffee/tea making facilities were provided in the room, some toiletries (shampoo, shower gel, soap, cotton buds for a night) and a hairdryer - oh, and some biscuits :)
This B&B is also perfectly located (in quiet, peaceful surroundings) as a base for a tour of the east coast since Dunnotar Castle and Stonehaven are close-by, and vibrant Aberdeen and historic Arbroath are not far either; staying there for a few days is what we are planning to do next time.
Michelle was quite busy at the time we arrived, baking and preparing for a family wedding the upcoming week, but still made us feel so welcome and took the time to make sure we still found a nice place to have dinner, even though we arrived rather late that evening.
Michelle and David are also a great team at breakfast, cooking, serving, chatting with the guests and making sure they feel at home. Breakfast was so delicious and we were given many different options, from Scottish to continental breakfast and various options (granola, pancakes etc.), all freshly cooked and based on local ingredients.
We would absolutely love to stay at Michelle and David's wonderful family home again in the future - it's a place to be highly recommended!
