Firstly, we were picked up 10 minutes late, after being told to arrive 10 minutes early, concerns were setting in that the bus wouldn't arrive! After we were picked up we headed to another hotel to, and I quote, "check and see if any people at this hotel are booked on for the tour, we never really know". This is very badly organised and could be done so much better.
This delay made us miss the entire introduction presentation for the Devils @ Cradle including a video the Devil guide talked about during the tour. We had assumed, perhaps naively after reading reviews afterwards, that the Devils tour was just made up of people who had booked onto the McDermott tour, unfortunately this was not the case and there were, in my opinion, too many people to enjoy the tour fully. The guide at Devils was fantastic though, very engaging and knowledgeable and kept the attention of the audience.
Secondly, the night animal spotting was no different to what we had seen the previous night while driving. Audience participation is encouraged and by this I mean you have to hold the lights to spotlight the animals. We were lucky enough to have the drivers 'mate' come out with us with a torch of his own, which we were told does not usually happen.
Very disappointing tour and would have requested a partial refund for missing the start of the Devil presentation had I have had any contact information or phone signal.
Two Stars due to the extra chap in the bus and the knowledge of the Devils guide, so all in all One Star for McDermott's themselves.
