This resort is nestled in a beautiful part of the mountains outside Chiang Mai. You are surrounded by nature, it's quiet and peaceful. Hotel staff is friendly as you would expect. The pool is gorgeous. We stayed in a small villa here and found it to be comfortable but a little musty smelling. We paid 1000 baht for our airport taxi to the hotel, they initially wanted 1500. Our taxi back into the city was 500. The only negative aspects of our stay, the air conditioning didn't work our first night but they fixed it the next day. And the breakfast is lacking. The food is bland. Besides those two things this resort was awesome and we enjoyed our stay. There is a cafe on the main road Thachang Hill that has excellent food and coffee with a nice view. They also offer massages here. Cheaper than Belle Villa. There is a waterfall up the road where you can see elephants every morning from a nearby camp around 10:30-11am daily. Thachang Hill also offers ATV tours which we did and had a blast. A little spendy but worth it to get off the beaten trail and get some amazing views of the mountains. If you're looking for a relaxing and peaceful resort Belle Villa is the ticket.

We stayed here as part of the Karma group. The resort itself is clean and peaceful, with a restaurant onsite near the main pool and others at the road gate. We took a shuttle from the resort one morning into the shopping plaza and from there agreed a price with a tuk-tuk driver to take us around to temples and markets. The resort does offer a trip but the tuk-tuks are a much cheaper way of doing it.

The restaurant has a good menu and the main pool is clean. There is a second pool but it looked less clean.

Our room had the biggest bed I've ever seen (9' wide). We had air-conditioning, a fridge, TV and outside balcony. The room was clean but a little tired. It could be difficult for anyone with mobility issues as the rooms in the Karma complex are all up stairs.

We (husband and wife) had a couple of massages which were great!

First time we have been to Chiang Mai and this resort ticks a lot of boxes. A 30 min drive out of the city, which may not suit some families, but within 10 min walk to a low key elephant camp. Totally enjoyable to be with these animals in a truely natural environment . Lots of traditional Thai cafes and small shops nearby. Would recommend renting a scooter to get around. Roads are quiet and safe. Scooter rental available at resort front entrance .

Room tip: Private villas in garden settings if you like privacy

I am shocked by the other reviews. This was not even close to being a 4 star resort. Upon checking in, we immediately noticed the extremely cheap and uncomfortable beds. In order to soften the bed we chose to use, I decided to move the comforter from the smaller bed to the larger one for padding. Upon removing the bedding I found dead bugs and flies on the mattress that had been under the sheets. GROSS. We went to bed later that night and found a terrible odor from our pillows. The pillows smelled like sweaty, dirty gym clothes. We removed the pillow cases to see if it would help, but found dark yellow sweat stains in the center of all of the pillows and that it was the pillows themselves that had the sweaty B.O. smell. We had the pillows changed out the next day, but the memory of smelling sweat stained dirty pillows all night has not left our minds. DISGUSTING.

The restaurant was cheaply priced, but eating there was completely uncomfortable. They never turned on the AC in the indoor area, so we always had to eat at the outdoor area. They provided fans to help with the heat, but we had to constantly swat away flies that tried to get into our food and in our faces.

Our unit was very small with a dated mildew covered shower and bathroom. I've seen nicer bath rooms in a Super 8 motel. There were not vaulted ceilings as shown in the photos. The pool pretty, but it had a massive amount of ants all over the tile edges. There were also tons of ants floating in the pool itself - which let to me being bit by ants when swimming. They also only had 4 lounge chairs around the whole pool, leaving no where to sit when the only a few other families were at the pool. There was a 2nd pool that appeared a little cleaner the first day, but there was a hot tub attached to it that was completely unmaintained. It was half filled with dirty brown standing water and green and black mildew was on all of the surfaces of the inside of the hot tub.

The last straw for us was when constant hammering and banging began at the unit next door to ours. We were never informed prior to booking or even at check in that there would a unit under construction/remodeling directly next to us. We asked for them to stop the work, and they only agreed to do it at a different time. I don't know why they chose to put us right next door to a unit being remodeled, when the resort was clearly not fully booked.

We ended up leaving the resort after 3 nights and staying somewhere else, despite the fact that we had paid for a full 7 night stay. That is how bad this place was.

Room tip: Stay somewhere else

I found this fantastic resort through my vacation club and could not be happier with my stay!!! From day 1, Birdy and Klang in reception made sure my friend and I had an exceptional stay. The hotel grounds were just gorgeous- my photos don't do have the justice this property deserves but I hope they express some of the beauty we experienced here. From the beautifully appointed villa we stayed in to the personalized care provided with scheduling excursions, special meals, etc. I highly recommend this resort.

My bed was super comfy, the AC worked well, bathroom was lovely - everything! They even provided us with the daily temperatures and these lovely little apricot cookies each day that were a welcomed snack while exploring the area.

Loved it here!!! Thank you Birdy & kelang for taking such good care of us!
