Loved our three nights here, superb staff, lovely isolated location. Rustic artistic setting. Highly recommend restaurant, just amazing how they provide such food in such remote location. Internet is not great but use the time to read and relax. Nice local tours available as well. Best staff come across in long time.

Very nice local resort by the beach. The staff is extremely professional and very nice.
Some bungalows are in front of the sea.
The decoration of the rooms is very nice with attention to details (nice flowers, amenities in the bathroom, kettle with coffee and tea, laundry service which is excellent, air conditionning, etc.).
The restaurant has a very good selection of meals and is very good. The breakfast by the sea was a delight. Prepared with care.

Thank you very much to the staff who made us very welcome in this great place.

Looking for bare foot paradise? Stop looking and go to: Pondok Wisata Cemara Beach.
The resort is in a very remote location, right on an endless beach. Beach is sometimes coral debris though…
Complimentary transfer from/to Waingapu Airport (WGP) takes ¾ hour.
The staff and the resident manager Moza are awesome! I have travelled a lot and can say the friendliness and the service-mindedness of the staff are unsurpassed.
The food is delicious and there is a wide range of dishes to choose from. Prices are low, in contrast the fact that the accommodation price is rather high for that region. A local dish or a large bottle of beer are IDR 45k + 15% tax and service is around EUR 3.30.
At low tide you can wander around the rocky sea surface and sea fishes and crabs. At high tide you can bath right by the resort. Or take long walks along the beach and be accompanied by the resort`s lovely dogs. At sundown be at the beach on the little wooden pier with the swinging-chair. Very romantic.
The Deluxe-Bungalows have a nice decor and are made of dark tropical wood. However, there are too many objects standing around in the room, limiting your possibilities to deposit your own personal stuff.
Everything is spotlessly clean.

We stayed 3 nights in this little hotel on the beach and enjoyed the caring and kind attention of the local team who is doing their best to make you feel at home.
The team is working hard to protect their local environment too often threatened by overfishing, bad practices and trashing.
Every morning their prepared a delicious buffet for us on the beach and they even organised a special night for us on the little island in the middle of the fish pond.
The place is charming and the beach is clean and beautiful.
We warmly recommend this place to any further visitor.

We stayed four nights with the whole family and used Pondok Cemara as our base of operations to explore this part of Sumba. They arranged two great trips for us- to visit traditional villages in the surrounding areas- all four of which were fantastic. The food also was surprisingly good and the service here was enthusiastic and outstanding. We stayed in the cabins which are definitely worth paying a bit extra for. Sumba is still less than developed and therefore maybe a little more expensive- but this place is worth every penny and more.
