Excellent overnight stay, rooms across a courtyard from the pub, quiet and very comfortable, large on suite bathroom with good powerful shower. Bed comfortable, flat screen tv with plenty if channels.

Food divine, all local produce superbly cooked and presented, large portions leave no room for desert!

Breakfast, large well cooked full English with "everything" it lasted me all day
Mine hosts, very welcoming and helpful, mobile reception patchy, I was offered the pub phone to make a business call, very helpful and no charge on the bill, a very nice couple who make your stay enjoyable. Nothing too much trouble.
Would definitely stay here again if in the area for business

Arrived mid afternoon when the inn itself was shut but owner appeared at the doorway as we drove up and showed us to our room.
Bedroom and bathroom spotlessly clean with comfortable beds.
Good beer in a very friendly bar. Very good service at dinner with excellent choice of food. Staff attentive but not interruptive. Food well cooked and presented.
No noise from the bars etc after we had gone to bed.
Tasty breakfast well prepared.
In summary it was an excellent place to stay and we would recomment it to anyone. Good value for money.

Room Tip: We had room 6 which was fine

Spent a Saturday night here recently - and had a really nice time.

The room first; the accomodation is modern, clean, bright and comfortable. In a separate block to the pub itself, just across a small courtyard garden with all door opening to the outside. The pub is a fairly quiet place, emphasis very much on eating, so no noise issues even on a Saturday night. The room was a decent size, newly decorated with a flatscreen freeview TV, fridge with mini-bar, nice big bathroom with a good powerful shower. A huge, comfortable bed is a real plus - not everywhere gets this right!

The pub itself is probably Victorian, trying to look older with black beams in the frontage. The bar area is pleasant and fairly cosy. Decent beers on tap (had Timothy Taylor Landlord) and a few tables. It's not really a drinkers' pub, though with the main emphasis being on the dining. There are 2 further restaurant rooms, which lack atmosphere, but are OK.

There is a printed menu with some pub stables and a selection of steaks. There's also a good winelist with some interesting wines - particularly Spanish and Portuguese. Also, there's a blackboard of specials that looked to change often. This has a heavy emphasis on fish dishes.

I can't tell you if the meat dishes here are any good, we didn't have them, but the fish dishes we had were sublime - really top notch fish beautifully cooked. Sea Bass was plainly and excellently pan fried, perfectly seasoned and had good, buttery juices. Poached salmon was also excellent and served with a very nice, rich lobster and prawn sauce. This was cooking at a higher level than I'd expect from almost any pub.

The only niggle is that nearly everything is served with pub-standard chips or perfectly decent new potatoes.

Dessert was good too with nice ice creams and a really good almond and pine nut tart. Service is very friendly and efficient, both in the restaurant and at breakfast.

The breakfasts are good too.
