Repubblica

This is a great Agriturismo, well attended by Italians, always a good sign! The food is excellent and copious amounts of it! All local ingredients. The place itself could do with a bit of TLC, but it is definitely worth a visit. Massa Martana is a lovely little town, only a short drive from Todi, but always a little bit cooler, as it's near the mountains.

While attending a wedding locally, we visited this restaurant purely on the basis of TripAdvisor rating (#1) and we were not disappointed. There is no menu, wine and water greet you at your table and the family serve you as if you were their distant cousins that they really wanted to look after. Each dish (and please don't ask how many they served, but there were a lot and not too many) was full of flavour and was served when they felt you were ready. I mean this as a total complement to this 'slow food' restaurant (apparently it's a reaction to the 'fast food' restaurants that blight the pleasure of eating) of which there are only a few in the region. They cater for meat eaters and vegetarians (myself being one) and it is an experience to behold if you are in the locality. Décor is very large family room, so no airs or graces in the surroundings, but again, this is the total charm of the place and you can dress up, or down, and still feel comfortable.

This is a true Umbrian dining experience. The restaurant is filled with locals, there is no menu because what is served is based on what is locally grown and in season. The meal starts with a variety of crostini and bruschetta and assorted meats and cheeses. Then comes the pasta...all homemade and then an assortment of grilled meats and dessert. The food is authentic, nonna is in the kitchen and most of the staff is related. It is a warm, wonderful, tasty experience you should not miss.

This was the first time I had been to a restaurant in which you did not choose from a menu, but were served with a variety of Italian dishes ranging from breads, veges, pizza bites to pasta, meats and desserts. The cover was 25 euros per person and that included all food and drink. Drink consisted of water, wine red or white plus liqueurs. The meal was excellent, the decor charming and the staff were extremely pleasant and helpful.

We had dinner here last night with two other couples. This is an agriturismo where each day dinner is prepared with locally grown vegetables, meat from the region and homemade breads and pasta. No menu--the meal is pre-determined and brought course by course, served family-style. About half of the diners were locals. All the food was outstanding! We were served several types of crostini/bruschetti, including some topped with tomatoes and cheese, others with potatoes, cheese and onions; prosciutto, and salami. We also had focaccia, umbrian spaghetti with tomato sauce, pork (might have been pork belly), guinea fowl, and salad. As we completed each course, we were offered seconds. Finished off with fig cake, coffee, and they offered limoncello but we cried "uncle"! The waiter spoke almost no English, but when we were trying to determine what came after the pork (guinea fowl), local diners helped. All of this, and they only charged us 25€ per person and the waiter refused a tip!! So if this was not enough, we returned about 40 minutes later because we couldn't get into the castle tower we were renting. They tried to help us locate the person representing the property, and when they didn't work, our waiter and 8 or 9 local diners, including grandparents, parents and a 3-year-old boy followed us back to the lodging and tried to work the key. When this failed, the waiter and another scaled the walls, trying to see if they could get into one of the windows. Okay, nothing worked, so we returned to the restaurant, also a B & B, and were offered rooms for just 50€ for the night.
